Two people have been killed during a knife attack at a Marseille train station, according to police. The assailant, who was reportedly shouting Allahu Akbar, was shot dead by an army patrol at the scene.
The incident took place at the Saint-Charles train station in Marseille on Sunday, when a man attacked passers-by with a knife. One person was killed by the assailant at the scene, while another succumbed a short while after, according to police chief Olivier de Mazières.
The attacker, who was reportedly shouting Allahu Akbar, was shot dead by an army patrol. At least two shots were fired, local media reported, citing witnesses. The attacker is described as a man in his late twenties, who was not carrying any ID. The investigation team is currently running his fingerprints through their databases. The initial findings indicate that the attacker was known to the police as a common criminal, local media report citing police sources.
Both of the attackers victims were women, the French interior ministry said. One of the victims had her throat slit, while the other was stabbed in her stomach, French media report, citing police sources. The victims were 17 and 20-years-old, according to media reports.

There has been lately a surge in the so-called lone-wolf attacks, similar to the todays incident in Marseille. The Sentinel patrols themselves have also been targeted by terrorists, as at least seven attacks on patrolling soldiers have taken place.
Despite the state of emergency, which has been renewed six times so far, the country still experiences frequent terrorism-related incidents. The latest extension was in July and is expected to last until November 1.

Have the authorities figured out a motive yet?
My heart goes out for the victims of the barbaric blood cult of Islam. They are winning the war by little attacks to break society down.
killing this one guy is not enough to make up for two young French girls...not nearly enough...
“A candlelight vigil is in the works.”
Great! That will set things right.
All these foolhardy activities do is make liberals feel as though they “did something”.
At least they weren’t doing any profiling on him. That would have been wrong, right?
Why would they shoot a "dead attacker"?
Then again, it is the French -
The word "dead" goes with "shoot", as in "shoot dead". They shot dead a knife attacker.
Certainly could have been worded better.
It will indeed sir, from now, until doomsday.
“Have the authorities figured out a motive yet?”
Not conclusively yet. But high on the list is that he has been distraught ever since Trump left the Paris accord.
“These French soldiers had to kill this hostile alien within their borders and not on their border.”
The Foreign Legion has come home to roost.
The illegal immigrant was arrested on Friday and then released the same day! When will they learn?
and YOU answer me as if I were a dolt - LOL - with:

Gee, thanks for enlightening me. However, I am a professional writer AND I was educated in the 1940-1950's, i.e., when they were actually teaching things, like English. ;)
And we knew what tongue in cheek was/is. (Or maybe you just needed another cuppa coffee?)
Actually I think they shot an attacker who attacked a dead knife (as distinguished from a living knife obviously). These modern “journalists” have some great communication skills, don’t they?
“I thought he was dead and attacking knives.”
No, he was alive and they shot him for attacking dead knives...or something. What a wonderful school these “journalists” must attend.
Killing a train load would not make up for two innocent girls, nor would killing ten million. There is no way to make up for it but they could do something toward preventing reocurrence, maybe something like, oh, I don’t know, ordering every Muslim to get the hell out of the country and executing all who refuse. I suppose that is too logical for this age.
And just how would I have known that? No need to be offended.
These days, dolts on the internet are plentiful.
