NY Post ^ | 9/30/2017 | pawpawrick

The governor Ricardo Rossello has little experience. He’s 36 and never really held a job and never dealt with a budget. His entire administration is totally inexperienced and they have no clue how to handle a crisis of this magnitude.

“In 1916, the US government occupied the Dominican Republic, mostly because a chaotic and unstable political situation there was preventing the Dominican Republic from paying back debts owed to the USA and other foreign countries. “

Martial law now!

P.R. uses the U.S.D., food stamps & electronically transferred welfare checks.

They do not have their own currency.

Someone was ranting and you spoiled the rant.

Ya big rant spoiler.

Sounds like they’re planning the same kind of extortion as “Rocket Man”.

Thank you, but others need them far more. Here is a link listing some major statistics on the PR situation. There is also video footage regarding the damage. Please pardon the source.

People need to find out where the pantry;s are located and distribution areas....too many want front door service!

If your son in Puerto Rico was to help at those centers there won’t be any issue of food.

When I was young trying to make it on my own I took a job at a small diner weekends while I looked for work during the week.......guaranteed I would eat!

My son has a small building contracting company and his specialty is in electrical including installing generators. I suspect he will be able to barter for food and more.

They’ve tried for years to become Independent....destroying their Island as they went. Far too much corruption at every level and why it’s a shambles there long before the storms.

There’s plenty of food there....people have to locate the centers is all.....your son doesn’t need to barter for food...it’s there...he just needs to find where it’s being distributed.

Not trying to downplay what is a bad situation in Puerto Rico, but I have been in disaster situations myself. All the photos and videos going out accentuated the negative to sensationalize the coverage. Even a block from some of those photos or videos, and everything was more or less normal.

People back East essentially were led to believe massive damage had taken place. Some big damage was certainly present, but nothing like folks were led to believe.

When I hear that 80-90% of the island homes have been destroyed, it causes me to question the reports when only 13-14 people were killed.

Some reports are telling us all the major roads are now unblocked. None the less we’re hearing the supplies cannot get through.

What IS going on down there?

I know a guy who goes down there regularly to audit a company’s books. He says it is a joke. He says they’re corrupt from the top to the bottom. He was supposed to go down Monday but his trip has been postponed, obviously. It’s a paycheck loan company so you know it’s really going to be a mess when he does get down there.

Seriously, why the F are we involved in that island? What the hell has it ever done for this country other than import a bunch of yayholes who want it turned into another Cuba? Give it back to Spain, repeal the Jones–Shafroth Act. I’d much rather Mexico become a territory of the US then we’d only have to worry about the tiny border of Guatemala. I work with Mexicans, they bust their ass, they are family oriented, religious and here we are supporting these mofo whores in PR who constantly spit in us. Plus they gave us J-Lo and Geraldo. Right there that should be reason enough to nuke it.

Puerto Ricans and their like will turn Florida blue before long, IMO. I’ve seen this movie before growing up in California. It has a bad ending.

“I stored up about 3 months worth of food, so I would not need to go shopping at the end.”

Because you have a brain!

I remember watching an interview 2 days after Hurricane Sandy with a family who were in the area effected but their house has totally dry. They stood there complaining about how they had no food!!! They had at least 2 weeks warning!!

For Christmas this year give your baby in Puerto Rico a couple weeks worth of MREs! Everyone in the Caribbean should have some stockpiled.

Give every P.Rican 10K USD

That might be a cheap bargain.

A bailout of PR's $120 billion (with a B) debt and pension liabilities would give every Puerto Rican over $35K.

Puerto Rico's population has declined 10% since 2005 -- that's 400K people who went somewhere.
