But if you do it to the anthem, and you’re not disrespecting the anthem, people are going to watch.

And by the same reasoning, adultery is okay if you're not disrespecting the person you are married to. The problem is it's not possible to cheat on your marriage or to protest during the National Anthem without being disrespectful.

“People were complaining about the platform we’re using,” Vaccaro said. “That’s the only platform that’s going to get attention....."

Oh, BS! What if you kneeled in the middle of a game for one play? You don't think THAT would get attention?

How "Easy to Use and Operate" is the NFL? Is it edifying American culture - or demoralizing it?

It’s not even so much about the anthem now, people are just tired of watching thugs, period.

> guys out there that he’s clearly better than

He may want to talk to players from the the women’s soccer league in 2005 (or 2006?). The “conversation” went something like this

Sponsors: we want the players to help us with PR that we’ve set up
Player’s union: we are soccer players and don’t do PR
Sponsors: we don’t feel like paying any more money if you won’t help us get fans
(...league shuts down...)

Players get paid to entertain. They aren’t entertaining unless they can play the sport, so talent is needed. But, no matter how great the talent, if they aren’t entertaining they won’t get paid. The NFL needs the right combination of talent and fan-appeal - Kaepernick doesn’t have that combination. There are pickup games around the country who are looking for the best players, and don’t require fan-appeal.

The thought of an intelligent person would be: If I do this, what repercussions may ensue?

Stand, sit, kneel, stay in locker room, hold hands, link arms, hands on shoulders, fists up, heads up, heads down, kneel before, stand after - this has become a meaningless joke and pathetic, empty virtue signaling.

Exactly. It doesn’t matter how good they are at blocking, tackling, throwing or catching a ball. If we aren’t willing to watch them, they are nothing.

This idiots agent better tell his idiot client to STFU, get off his butt, stand up straight, and place his hand over his heart with respect. The idiot is digging himself a hole larger than the idiot can climb out of.

The ONLY reason they will ever “get their act together” is because they are losing their cause, fanbase, popularity, and MONEY...

That’s the ONLY reason....

“You understand what happened with Kaepernick?”

Yes, I understand he broke his contract and left the team. Now, no one wants him. And this threatens you, how?

after (Kaepernick's) contract expired this offseason

Well... actually, Kaepernick was the one who opted out of that final year of his contract, thinking a promise to "stand for the Anthem" would help land him somewhere else.

I think they’re just using this flag and military thing to cover up the real problem that’s at hand.

The REAL problem -- a**hole -- is that respect for police and other representatives of public order is NOT being taught to young blacks.
