Two U.S. senators from both parties are close to finalizing a bipartisan deal to shore up the health insurance exchanges created under Obamacare, the chamber’s top Democrat said on Thursday.

The move, which Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said was “on the verge” of completion, would stabilize the market for individuals who buy their own insurance plans on the federal or state-based exchanges.

It must be true because shoemore said so.

I think the message should be that nothing has changed. This disaster IS Obamacare. A well written law does not need tinkering. It is written for eternity. As an example, consider “that shalt not kill,” or the Bill of Rights.

As for funding, Reuters and others remind us that we have a federal deficit. Time to pair back funding.

If not repealed, I vote straight D in 2018.

I can appreciate your utter frustration with the pubbies but cutting off your nose to spite your face, as the old saying goes, is never a good idea.

Nothing permanent please!

State exchanges are pulling out because they are losing millions. You can’t fund a company’s losses for one year without changing operating conditions and expect it to cure the problem for years ahead. The shoring up has to be permanent.

That’s a great idea. Give the Dems more power so they can go single payer...bite off nose...spite face.

This will ne4ver pass the House and Trump will veto it if it does. This is a joke and no one is laughing.

Attach ALL the riders from the failed bills, particularly the cross-state solutions ... Make the Dems REJECT their own BILL!

You raise a good point - now would be a good time to lure mailman jr to DC as hobocare czar, and then after a year bury kissoff in taint ... Load his pockets with 527 gold then breitbart him ....

No, no, it’s the “At least it’s X%. We’ll get the other Y%...*LATER*” (1/2-loaf theory. Never mind ‘later’ N-E-V-E-R comes) crowd. Probably the same...

Despite those worries, insurers on Wednesday signed contracts with the government that will result in every U.S. county having at least one company selling Obamacare plans.

Aren't we lucky — one provider... And don't forget, we were saved by Obamacare after it terminated our previous contracts.

Schumer's own Long Island is about to lose yet another Obamacare provider. We're getting hammered.

What level of disgust supersedes seething contempt?

I doubt the rats are worried about Moore. He still has to get elected.

I Expect the dems and the ‘reps’ to form a coalition to keep him out of office.

“Trump should veto.”

Trump better veto or I will be ticked. If he does not then he is just rewarding a lying congress and going against his own word. His only leverage is to allow that tax sucking atrocity called Obamacare to fall.

[The pact could buoy health insurance companies, which came out forcefully against the Republican repeal effort and have faced uncertainty since the November election of Republican President Donald Trump, who vowed to sink the law.]

It sounds like a funding bill; one that cannot originate in the Senate.

Funding bills may originate in the Senate. You're thinking of taxing bills. According to the Constitution, all taxes must originate in the House. Of course, Courts routinely ignore that part (along with many other sections) of the Constitution.

The failure to repeal - at least partially - the ACA puts us in a Catch 22 with the Democrats: We can either shore up the exchanges, or allow it to collapse completely - but the latter could risk having much of the underlying infrastructure also collapse, opening the way for single payer (which was the goal all along) because there would be little to nothing left to salvage even if Obamacare was repealed. They planned this most cleverly.

When I write, “...Medicaid expanding...Exchange enabling govs...” does that really sound like praise to you? You are suffering from TDS it isn’t exclusive to the left. Just a little too quick to pull the over used “Never Trumper” epithet.

At least our other RINO is retiring. But we sure need to do something about the governor also.

I don’t understand how conservative Southern States can vote for these people!
