Trump: NFL owners 'afraid' to take action against kneeling players
Fox News ^ | September 28,2017

President Trump, in an exclusive interview with "Fox & Friends," said that NFL owners are “afraid” to act against their players protesting the national anthem at games across the country.

“The NFL is in a box and they have to do something about it,” Trump told Fox News' Pete Hegseth, in the interview aired Thursday morning.

“I think they’re afraid of their players, if you want to know the truth,” Trump said.

In the same interview, Trump also touted the newly released Republican tax reform framework, describing the plan as the “largest reduction in terms of dollars in any plan in the history of the country.”

The president reiterated that the NFL has a wide range of rules, suggesting the league should apply new rules to those who would protest the anthem by kneeling.

“They have rules for everything—you can’t dance in the end zone, you can’t wear pink socks relative to breast cancer—they have rules for everything,” the president told Hegseth, a “Fox & Friends” weekend co-host and Fox News political analyst.

He added: “Why aren’t they honoring this country by enforcing a rule that’s been in existence for a long time?”

But he said, “I have so many friends that are owners, and they are in a box.”

Trump’s comments come after days of back-and-forth criticism with the NFL and its players for “disrespecting our country.”

Trump suggested that stadiums are “losing” fans amid the controversy. “The stadiums are losing—there are a lot of empty seats, I couldn’t even believe it,” Trump said.

Trump kicked up a firestorm over the kneeling protests last week, after criticizing NFL players for not standing for the anthem.

I agree but I'm not the guy who draws the cartoon. Ben Garrison does and I'll send him an email.

Fastest way back to normal. That’s what the owners are interested in.

I think we could bring this whole thing to a screeching halt by, instead of castigating the players involved, begin praising them for being a “fine Christian athlete, setting the example by kneeling in prayer before each game”. How many do you think would keep up these antics?

The NFL could end this by starting a research/training fund charity to support better policing practices in cities where the shootings have happened. The players and owners could put their money where their mouth is. (Of course, then they might look into it and realize that maybe the problem of racist cops is not as widespread as they thought, but .... )

They could get back to standing for the flag, and do a commercial that announces their charity, and move on.

Hey Commies, here's a rule for you.

Public law 105-225 signed into law August 12, 1998.
Title 36 US Code 301 states:

301. National anthem

(A) Designation.—The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.

(B) Conduct During Playing.—During a rendition of the national anthem—
(1) when the flag is displayed—
(a) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem
and maintain that position until the last note;
(b) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may
render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and
(c) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right
hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress
with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in
the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

There’s one way the NFL can recover:

#1 Fire Goodell TODAY.

#2 Clear the rosters of Player-Thugs.

#3 Order the players to conduct themselves as gentlemen.

Failing that, goodbye NFL.

They are putting their business interests ahead of their country and those who fought for it. That’s not fear, it’s chickenshit.

Trump is again 100% right in his diagnosis.

The NFL, and sports in general, has become another asylum that the inmates have taken over.

Should be fun to watch how the owners react to this latest dig from Trump that totally exposes both their cowardice and the very weak position they’re in.

Exactly correct, regardless of what the media and the NFL say.

The part that grabbed me was watching the Baltimore Ravens, kneeling to the American anthem, while standing for the UK anthem. They are so poorly educated that they didn’t even understand that “the bombs bursting in air” were referring to the UK bombing the BALTIMORE HARBOR, now known as the Inner Harbor.

They made themselves subservient to the ppl that were warring against their own town.

The Brits must have been beside themselves with laughter at our great American educational system.

Stated perfectly by President Trump. It's almost embarrassing to be saying some of these things because they seem so obvious to most normal people.

Shameless self-promotion here (LOL) ...

Rambling Thoughts about the NFL and their "Dixie Chicks Moment" (Vanity)

Each owner can fire his players. They don’t have to get Goodell’s permission. Trump is right in putting the heat on the owners after all Goodell is just their puppet.

It's even worse than that. After the Steelers refused to come out of the locker room for the national anthem, they went out onto the field and lost to a Chicago Bears team that most people regard as one of the worst in the NFL.

These fans have surely figured out that these jackass players and their jackass coaches have spent more time preparing for their childish temper tantrums than they've spent preparing for the actual game.

Kneeling has long been a traditional means of showing submission or servitude.

To what or to whom are these players subservient?

They are genuflecting to the white supremacists ............(/tongue in cheek)
