Trump: The NFL Has To Change Or ‘Their Business Is Going To Go To Hell’
The Daily Caller ^ | 09/27/17 | Ford Springer

Donald Trump is standing firm against the NFL and its tolerance of players kneeling during the national anthem, saying Wednesday that if it continues the NFL’s business is “going to go to hell.”

Before boarding Marine One at the White House on Wednesday, Trump stopped to speak with reporters and again addressed the national anthem protests that have happened across the NFL.

“I think the NFL is in a box. I think they’re in a really bad box,” Trump explained. “You look at what’s happening with their ratings, I mean frankly the only thing that’s doing well in the NFL is the pre-game because everyone wants to see what’s going on.”

“You cannot have people disrespecting our national anthem, our flag, our country — and that’s what they’re doing. And, in my opinion, the NFL has to change or you know what’s going to happen? Their business is going to go to hell.”

The national anthem protest, started over a year ago by then San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick, had pretty much died down this season until last week.

I can’t think of anything that would make me want to watch again. I will probably have football on at my house on one day this year - Thanksgiving Day. That’s because we’ll have lots of people over that day and my wife will not want to disappoint our guests (thus leading them to not want to come again next year) if we don’t have it on. I think that was the only football day I did last year as well.

owners are really panicking..sending out letters to season ticket holders...Trump should keep trolling them...get the dumb ones pissed, and then watch them destroy themselves. Watch for this...the league will send out the white QB’s...Brady, Brees, Rodgers etc to try and smooth this over....they got themselves into a mess and they know it.

Nothing personal, just business.

Corollary: when it gets personal, then it is bad for business.

if you can, resist!!lol..Thanksgiving is the best day to boycott...saw on the net, they are organizing for Veterans Day weekend games...no game attendance...no television...gear burning rallys...This league needs to be shut down for good...let someone else come along and start another one. They actually think they are too big and important...that the fans will never leave them....we’ll see.

Perhaps, in the alternative, you could invite a better guest list and leave out the one’s to whom the invitation has to include their ignoring the reason for the gather ing ( i.e. Thanksgiving). Your problem is most likely though, the fact that they are also “relatives.” We’ve decided that our country and it’s traditions transcend any familial relationship. and we have eliminated a few of them on general principles.

I had pretty much stopped watching the NFL regularly, I would catch the occasional game. But now? Forget it, and I am not even one of you die hard social conservatives! This has all become just too much, the leftward idiocy that we are lurching towards has got to stop somewhere, and this is my personal line in the sand. I’ll continue to watch the College game, but I Am afraid its only a matter of time before this nonsense starts there as well. At which time, I will stop my support of that game (NCAA makes money off of me, unlike the NFL) as well, completely.

First the NFL, then the NBA.

I wish we could do the same with Hollywood, but they are somewhat inoculated, because a lot of their profits are from overseas.

I wrote a vanity post on FR last year, encouraging people to boycott the NFL, specifically on Thanksgiving day. That’s the day we give thanks for this great country of ours. I can’t think of a better day to not watch a bunch of brainwashed, brain dead, ignorant, multimillionaires disrespecting our flag.

Years ago, there was only one NFL game on Thanksgiving, and it always featured the Detroit Lions. The Lions were a joke for decades, so people didn’t even care about it. They just wanted to eat, drink, and socialize.

So please try to convince your wife to have an old fashioned Thanksgiving this year, that harks back to the days when the Lions sucked and nobody cared about watching football.

Most likely this protesting/disrespect during the anthem will spread to college games. I can imagine the behind the scenes actions AD's, coaches, and the President's of colleges are doing right now. Some trying to do the right thing, while other schools have different ideas. It will be a mess. Won't take long to find out.

Trump will frame the situation in his frankness in speaking it "as it is" if collegiate protests join in the fray.

No, keep watching college football.

Most college athletes don’t make it to the pros. They are playing for the love of the game. Even if some of them kneel during the national anthem, let’s put it in perspective.

If the NFL goes bankrupt, football becomes a strictly amateur sport. A lot of the most gifted athletes won’t compete on the college level because there won’t be multi million dollar contracts waiting for them when they turn pro.

The NFL boycott is about people making a statement to corporate America with their wallets......no money for the NFL, no money to pay pro athletes.

Colleges already have tons of money, and are already corrupt in so many ways. Supporting college football in order to keep the game alive is a fair trade for putting the NFL out of business.

Once the NFL is mortally wounded, the rest of corporate America might wake up and stop dissing Conservative Americans.
