Drudge rips Trump tax plan: Difference between Dems and GOP is an 'illusion'
By Josh Delk - 09/27/17 12:16 PM EDT
The Drudge Report's Matt Drudge sent out a rare tweet Wednesday morning criticizing the GOP for making concessions to Democrats on taxes and health care, saying there is no longer an "illusion" of difference between the two major parties.
"First keep Obamacare, now raise taxes on top earners? At least illusion there is difference between parties is finished once and for all!" Drudge said, taking aim at proposals in the new GOP tax plan.
The website also led with a scathing headline: "More Betrayal Republican Plan to Raise Taxes."
Republicans Wednesday unveiled their framework for a major tax overhaul, which includes big cuts to corporate taxes and lowering individual tax rates, and completely nixing the estate tax.
But the plan also says that "an additional top rate may apply to the highest-income taxpayers to ensure that the reformed tax code is at least as progressive" as the current one.
It also would raise the lowest individual tax bracket from 10 to 12 percent, while nearly doubling the standard tax deduction.
Drudge's tweet also bashes Republicans for another recent failure at repealing ObamaCare, a major GOP campaign platform, with party leaders in Congress deciding not to vote on the latest bill proposed by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.).

This is what Trump has asked for. He has said it more than a few times he wants a tax increase for the rich. Trumps and the GOPes difference with the Dems is in the details not the principals.
>
Which doesn’t make him, his idea or want, CORRECT. And, we should remind him of the same at every opportunity.
Govt, and DJT, work for We the People, not the other way around.
>
People like Drudge sabotaged the ACA repeal because it wasnt pure enough, and now whine because Trump has to pass something with 60 votes, meaning it wont be the type of tax reform he wanted but still better than what we have now.
>
Correct. The ONLY legal/Constitutional (aka ‘pure’, as you call it) remedy was a full repeal (never ‘replace’). As that wasn’t passed (as it was PROMISED), hence the griping.
Anything LESS is still a non-starter, again, hence the griping (and rightfully so).
The idea that Trump ‘HAS’ to pass something is asinine logic. Instead of failing in 3 years, let’s extend the pain/iron fist to 10yrs??
Let The People suffer under the law. Maybe, just maybe, it’ll finally open their eyes. I haven’t, as of yet, seen any of the OTHER 1/2 of loaf everyone keeps talking about.
I got a better idea. How ‘bout tax breaks for ALL; not just some/connected.
The idea that ANY tax cut needs ‘paying for’ is ludicrous. 1) Govt is too big NOW and, most importantly, IT’S *NOT* THEIR PROPERTY/$$.
Any (R)\(C) using that Leftist lingo should be immediately removed.
“Drudge is holding a grudge and I wish he would knock it off.”
Drudge has been behaving like the NFL thugs for a long time.
Make one wonder what dirt Obama and the Deep State have on him?
His site is a no go site like ESPN/ABC/Disney for me.
I wouldn’t call what we would achieve with these tax cuts, to be limited government.
If you think about it, tax receipts going to the government could be expected to double.
Limited Government?
The goal is to end deficit spending and pay down the debt.
Once the debt decreased significantly, we could enact further tax cuts.
TDS is afflicting both the left and the right. The common bond between the two is that both afflicted sides believe they can end all debate by invoking “Trump”. At least the talk of multiple dimension chess boards with invisible pieces is starting to dimension.
