FLOWERY BRANCH — Falcons coach Dan Quinn said the team will lock arms during the national anthem and will encourage the fans to do the same before they play the Bills on Sunday.
“For us, we will lock arms together during that time, and we would encourage our fans to do the same,” Quinn said Wednesday. “I think that would be kind of a nice tribute as we’re getting started. It’s an important time in our world. There are a lot of issues that are really important to talk about, and we’ll spend some time and we have as a team talking through some of those.”
Most of the Falcons, along with owner Arthur Blank, stood and locked arms during the singing of the national anthem before they played the Lions in Detroit on Sunday.
Defensive tackles Grady Jarrett and Dontari Poe knelt. Several other players stood alone off to the right at attention.

And, sadly enough, there are plenty of fans who will think this is a great compromise. Especially, Green Bay. The fans here will believe anything in order to support their team.
I thought locking arms was so no one could put their hands on their heart.

The only acceptable posture during the National Anthem is to stand, with your headgear off, and your hand over your heart.
You stand with arms linked, the guy behind you is going to pick your wallet.

Now they can call their fans unrepentant racists if they don’t link arms.
Everyone in the stands should put their hands over their hearts for the anthem.

...and you KNOW it would be billed as neo Nazis attack peaceful protestors.
They are so transparent.
This means you’d be protesting with the team and against Trump. That is what they’re trying to get people to do. They’re trying to coerce people to be “unified” when the media narrative will be “people unified against Trump”.
I would only consider putting my hand on my heart while standing at respectful attention. However, since I will never be attending or watching any NFL games I shall keep my anthem observances for other situations.
I’d prefer the players, coaches, etc. stand at attention with their right hand over their hearts during the anthem.
