FULL TITLE.... Detroit regains its crown as most violent large city in America, overtaking St Louis, according to new FBI data
Detroit was America’s most violent big city in 2016, according to the latest government data released on Monday
The Motor City experienced more murders last year than Los Angeles even though the latter’s population is four times that of the former, the FBI’s new crime study revealed on Monday.
Detroiters, however, aren’t buying it.
‘I reject [these findings],’ Detroit Police Chief James Craig told the Detroit Free Press.
‘Just because it’s coming out of the FBI’ doesn’t mean it’s correct, the police chief said.
The FBI claims in its findings that Detroit witnessed a 15.7 per cent increase in violent crime in 2016 compared to the previous year.

Too bad about Kansas City....traveled there in the 90’s on business I thought it was a great town.
Yes, I suspect something is at work here - there are less victims in Newark (at least ones that can call police), and Detroit’s “revival” has actually brought more victims into the city.

The worst part is that PC requirements have made these police forces very black/Hispanic; they are also “standing down”.
My town has an issue right now because noise is blaring out of Newark each night, and Newark won’t do anything about it - their police claim they have more important things to do. If they were actually doing more important things, I’d understand - but they don’t.
Imagine if that energy (and those rounds) were being expended elsewhere; thankfully they have decided to keep it in-house...
I thought everyone there was already dead and the city was empty.
That’s kind of hard to believe. I live 40 miles from there and I have not noticed any Ferguson-type riots.

They only had forty shootings last weekend, not up to their standard.
It is insane to think they are not at the top of this list.
Chicago is one third black one third white and 1/3 Hispanic. Of the murder victims this year 404 were black 91 were Hispanic and 14 were white. If Chicago had the same demographics as Detroit the crime rate would probably be the same.
Big plus. Detroit has more places to hide the bodies.
I’m in a Detroit suburb. I’m not sure I’m buying this either. Regardless, it is misleading, almost all the problems come from a single zip code. Downtown Detroit is changing rapidly.

The thugs in Chicago must use the spray and pray method of shooting. It seems they hit bystanders more often than their intended targets.
Due to their lack of diligence, more of their victims survive.
