Ben Roethlisberger regrets anthem decision, says Steelers won't do it again
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | September 25, 2017 | by SEAN GENTILLE

The Steelers will be on the sideline during the national anthem in future games, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and defensive end Cam Heyward said during a news conference Monday.

Roethlisberger, via a statement posted on his website, said he has regrets over the Steelers’ decision to wait in the tunnel during the national anthem at Sunday’s game in Chicago, but that the team’s intent was not to protest the song, the flag or the military.

Roethlisberger said that he personally believes that protests have no place during the national anthem, but that the idea was to show unity as a team in the wake of president Donald Trump saying NFL teams should fire players who kneel for the anthem.

Contact the advertisers and tell them you will not buy their products until the teams pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

Money talks.

As a lifelong Cowboy fan, the Steelers are not my favorite team, but I always respected their “blue-collar” fan base reputation.

I hope their fan base understands the slap in the face their team did to them yesterday.

Sorry to disagree with you my friend but to a man, the responsibility is on each of these players who are pretending to either be "downtrodden" or "disenfranchised Americans when millions would give their eye teeth to have this jobs for just one season - or worse yet, they "stand (err sit) with their poor mistreated fellow black players, is on themselves - no one else!!!!" Last time I noticed everyone is a grown up or at least should be.

They act as those they are forced into some soup kitchens and bread lines, living in cardboard boxes under bridges instead of given millions for running around a sports stadium wearing short pants with a ball!

Give us all a break - it's real hard to feel sorry for a bunch of phony thugs.

This was taken from "Jennifer's Head" and written to hollywood celebrities, but it is just as applicable to NFL football players and anyone else who exists to entertain us... (comments in parentheses are mine)

Dance, Monkey!

Dear Hollywood celebrities (NFL),

You exist for my entertainment. Some of you are great eye candy. Some of you can deliver a line (or a pass) with such conviction that you bring tears to my eyes. Some of you can scare the crap out of me. Others make me laugh. But you all have one thing in common, you only have a place in my world to entertain me. That’s it.

You make your living pretending to be someone else (or play with a ball). Playing dress up like a retard* (gladiator). You live in a make believe world in front of a camera. And often when you are away from one too. Your entire existence depends on my patronage.

I’ll crank the organ grinder; you dance.

I don’t really care where you stand on issues. Honestly, your stance matters far less to me than that of my neighbor. You see, you aren’t real. I turn off my TV or shut down my computer and you cease to exist in my world. Once I am done with you, I can put you back in your little box until I want you to entertain me again.

I don’t care that you think the BP executives deserve the death penalty. But I bet you looked cute saying it.

And you? Really? I’m supposed to care what the director of fluffy tripe made for gullible people (or has-been quarterback) thinks of those who realize global warming is a scam? Get back into your bubble. I’ll let you know when I’m in the mood for something blue and shiny.

Make me laugh, or cry. Scare me. But realize that the only words of yours (or actions on the field) that matter are scripted (and irrelevant to me). I might agree with some of you from time to time, but it doesn’t matter. In my world, you exist solely for my entertainment.

So, shut your pie hole and dance, monkey!

Disagree. You make the direct connection between the Steelers and Villanueva. I could care less about the money. I would love to see a sea of Villanueva jerseys at the next Steeler game. Does the Army jersey contain his name on the back?

Hee hee...

This is what happens when someone tries to hijack the stage from someone who hijacked the stage in the first place.

Your "show of unity" gets lost in the uproar over the original protest, and you are now forever linked with it.

When 72% of your employees are black, the owners are worried about a strike or some other act of rebellion. By allowing this to continue, they are now hostages to the protesters.

If you are going to buy a Villanueva jersey, don’t get the NFL one get his jersey from when he played for ARMY #82. That way the money goes to the NCAA, and if you go to the Army website they get the money.

---------

Excellent idea!! 👏

Suck it, you rapist. YOU were the last straw before I decided the NFL was not worth my time - 2011 or so. The league is full of criminals, lowlifes and p^ssies. It sickens me that so many have kept watching anyway. Eat $#!+ and die.
