The Steelers will be on the sideline during the national anthem in future games, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and defensive end Cam Heyward said during a news conference Monday.
Roethlisberger, via a statement posted on his website, said he has regrets over the Steelers’ decision to wait in the tunnel during the national anthem at Sunday’s game in Chicago, but that the team’s intent was not to protest the song, the flag or the military.
Roethlisberger said that he personally believes that protests have no place during the national anthem, but that the idea was to show unity as a team in the wake of president Donald Trump saying NFL teams should fire players who kneel for the anthem.

The owners continue to get off free in this NFL debacle. They could have nipped this in the bud when Kaperdick knelt the first time. The owner of the 49ers should have fired him immediately and had security remove him from the stadium. All the other owners should have supported this position and asked their players who wanted to be next. They didn’t and they chose to fold like a cheap tent in Hurricane Harvey. Now no one is in control and chaos reigns. The fans are left to restore common sense the only way we can—boycott the stadiums, the tv broadcasts, and the sponsors. Impossible for this plan to fail. And it has nothing to do with President Trump. In this situation he is merely one of us.
Trump was accurate the NFL allowing the CK crap has cost them ratings and ticket sales. Trump was talking as a businessman. Imagine his hotel employees were spouting off their politics on the job and it was costing him profits? Yea. lol

There is perverted logic behind the entire “take a knee” action. When a player opposes President Trump who believes in respecting our flag, anthem and country, then by opposing PDJT on this you are opposing (disrespecting) the flag, anthem and country. No one ever said that the average NFLplayer has a genius IQ but the coaches and owners should know better.
