Steelers black coach unhappy Army vet Villanueva stood for the anthem, but look at his T-shirt sales soar!(Full Title)
This Well Defend. Thats the U.S. Army motto that Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva honored when he stood for the national anthem before an NFL game.
And by this, the Army motto refers to the United States of America not the National Football League.
The Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, whos black, apparently thinks Army veterans should place their transient football teams above their country. B*tch, please.
Tomlin was upset that Villanueva who did three tours of duty in Afghanistan broke ranks by standing to respect the Star-Spangled Banner while his teammates hid like hood rats in the locker room.
At a post-game press conference, Tomlin expressed disappointment that Villanueva respected the American flag that he risked his life fighting for.
I was looking for 100% participation, we were gonna be respectful of our football team, Tomlin said (see video at 2:28). Many of them were not going to accept the words of the President, so we decided to not take the field.
Coach Tomlin was upset that the former Army Ranger put his country before his football team. Keep in mind that football players are traded all the time, so its not like the allegiance is two-sided.

Well, it didn’t take 60 seconds into his opening monologue to prove that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Now what say you?
Well, so far Rush is proving me wrong. Says the first time in 45 years that he didn’t watch Sunday NFL games.
A good start, but Rush the fence sitter is not through yet, so we will see where he REALLY comes down off the fence, if he does.
They didn’t take the field after the anthem either.
I just listened to his monologue. It was incoherent.
Yo Mike Tomlin F**K OFF!!!!!!!!!!!
What are you babbling about? Rush doesn’t support the NFL at all.
Pansy? You wouldn’t be posting here if not for Rush.
Currently, there are three veterans among active NFL players. Not sure who the others are (in addition to Villanueva).
Hit them where it hurts - a real NFL boycott would solve the problem in a hurry.
Maybe he needs a plateful of knuckle sandwiches...
He’s not a member of the pity party or the poor old me party.
We ought to dump Tomlin off on the south side of Chicago at 2 am, and let him walk out.
I'll bet "the brothers" would eat him for a midnight snack. Racist scumbag fool.
Joke’s on the clowns.
Even though the majority of this money goes to funding the NFL, it is a clear indication WE THE PEOPLE stand with heroes, not sideshows.
My husband is a HUUUUUGGGEE Steelers fan but no longer! He even has a tattoo of the steelers. We are going to a game this November (Steelers vs. Packers) but it will be our last NFL game in a very loooonnnngg time.
Disgusted with the leftist political tide in sports. Yesterday, hubs came home from his second job and popped in a movie instead of watching football. It has to be PRETTY BAD for him to do that. Plus the pansification of football is upsetting to him as a high school player of the game in the mid eighties.
LOLOL!!!
The NFL Commissioner (and Steelers coach I might add)
needs to be fired. NFL RULES!! The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the league rulebook. It states:
The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.
Thank you to the Facebook poster who found this!
I believe that ‘NFL rule’ was debunked.
Mike Tomlin, Dan Rooney’s illegitimate affirmative action baby
Screw you Token Tomlin . . .a real patriot doesn’t put your silly boy’s game ahead of country
GTH
That was a very impressive thing for him to do. Heck of a patriot.
That took way more courage than what Kaepernick did.
