WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Sen. John McCain says doctors have given him a "very poor prognosis" as he battles brain cancer.

McCain underwent surgery in July for a brain tumor that was later found to be a form of glioblastoma, the same type of cancer that took the life of his former Senate colleague Edward M. Kennedy in 2009. McCain tells CBS' "60 Minutes" in an interview that aired Sunday night that he thinks about Kennedy a lot. He says Kennedy continued to work despite the diagnosis and "never gave up because he loved the engagement."

Prayers for a safe recovery - and for him to retire and enjoy time with his family.

“He says Kennedy continued to work despite the diagnosis and “never gave up because he loved the engagement.”

“....because he loved the engagement.” Anything about loving his country? Anything about loving the people he allegedly represents? I didn’t read that...

Good point.

I suppose the Christian thing to do would be to pray for this guy who never met a war he didn’t like; who called us “wackadoodles” “hobbits” and worse; threw the 2008 presidential race/wouldn’t even defend his running mate; loves Obama and has done everything he can do to wage war on the American middle class.

But I’m going to have to root for the cancer here ...

He is too petty and arrogant to do that.

I think you’re right, and that’s a very sad thing.

I'll just say this...there are some very elderly men who will to the end be arrogant..and infact, that arrogance increases exponentially as they slowly die...

one last middle finger to the world...

that's McLame.

My father did too. Started out astrocytoma benign then five years later came back megaglioma

It’s a painless but fade away mental death till it gets to brain stem usually

btw brain has no pain receptors

Benign is just as lethal as malignant in the brain

Due to life matter in confined space.....

People think oh it’s benign I’ll bee fine....not in the skull...

My dad just basically had significant motor skill and cognitive issues and huge memory replay especially optic flashback against like walls and ceilings of early life

He actually was mesmerized by it....usually at a 45 degree peripheral view like an old movie

Then thanksgiving 1997 he wouldn’t stir that morning....he died three weeks later after never waking up in a deep sleep

Some brain cancer is likely much worse dying wise

The personality stuff was tuff on my mother

Perhaps the Senator should retire to spend more time with his family and taking care of his health.

Amen to that.

It humbles me greatly everyday to think about what Jesus did for us. Thanks to him we have the free gift of salvation.

Lee Atwater and Robert Novak, both of whom suffered from the same form of cancer, died within about a year of when each was diagnosed.

I am so sorry for your loss. My husband also died of GBM — 15 days from diagnosis to death. I, however, have nothing but contempt for McQueeg.

My father died of the same thing. However, unlike McCain, my father was a good man. McCain can drop dead for all I care.

I had three members of my family die of lung cancer. None of them ever screwed this country like John McCain has. I can most certainly wish him ill.

After suffering headaches and generally feeing like crap,
my father drove himself to the Doctor to get checked out. To make a long and heartbreaking story short, he was gone just seven weeks after driving and walking into the doctor’s office. There is a reason that Neurologists call Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) “the Grim Reaper” - there is nothing that can be done to prevent it or kill it, and it is fatal 98% of the time.

So John McCain is terminally ill. On his way out he gives one last middle finger to the American people. Nice

He’s a traitor to this nation, a traitor to his family, a traitor until the end.

I have always said the worst thing North Korea did to us was sending that man home alive.

I cannot wish him ill, but I have no use at all for this pathetic excuse for a human being, he has been a traitor, liar and a disgrace to his office.

No, you can’t wish him ill. On the other hand, he has gold plated medical insurance and the best medical care available on the planet. How can he, in good conscience, keep thwarting efforts to overhaul an insurance system that is not working.

Try to get an appointment with a specialist today. McCain could see a world renown physician within a couple of hours. You would have to wait how many months?

BTW - to his credit McCain is still paying for medical insurance for his first wife who he left when she was in an accident and became disabled.
