For most of our lifetimes being a politician meant being a self-centered hypocritical bore who carefully obfuscates his or her true opinions lest they offend potential voters and financial supporters or... a corrupt self-centered hypocritical bore who carefully obfuscates his or her opinions lest they offend potential voters or financial supporters.
Trump is reinventing that and we -- whether we agree with his (sometimes changing) views or not -- owe him big (or bigly) for this. At least now we're awake and more of us are paying attention. (On this weekend's episode of Judge Jeanine, almost every man-on-the-street interviewee knew who "Rocket Man" was. Compare that with "Joe Biden" when he was vice president.)
And these days Donald's getting better and more precise at his core strategy -- saying things that many, often most, of us think but don't have the courage to utter.
For example, what the hell are black athletes who make upwards of ten million a year, far more than 99.999% of their fans of any color or shape, doing whining so ungratefully about opportunity for African-Americans in America? Where else could they have made fortunes anywhere near that size merely for playing a game? (Well, okay, except for a handful of Serbian and Swiss tennis players, but you know what I mean.) If they're so worried about their fellow African-Americans, why aren't they using their gazillions to do something about it? Perhaps the athletes are suffering from Matt Damon Envy, living in thirty million dollars houses while promulgating the works of America-hating socialist liar Howard Zinn. Whatever the case, Trump let them have it for their obvious hypocrisy and phony posturing that does nothing to help African-Americans or anybody else.

‘Trump Is Reinventing What It Means to Be a Proud American’
The above works, too! :)
It wasn’t always this way. I think pols changed when lobbyists and consultants took over.
It changed when the Feds got huge amounts of money...
Until the Great society the Feds never had much money,.,.
Look at WWII .. they sold war bonds..
Senators we not elected until 1912...
President Trump is saving Western Civilization by leading a full on assault against Political Correctness.
On the Republican side it was Trump and Cruz who made it to the finals. All the establishment candidates were eliminated early in the process.
On the Democratic Party side, it was Hillary versus Sanders and Hillary only one the nomination because the process was rigged by and for her by the Party elite.
So this past election the American people said overwhelmingly in primaries and the general election that they were tired of politics as usual. The Democrats still have not heard the message, at least not the leadership of that party. The Republican leadership is split, some like McConnel have not heard the the public demands a change from politicians.
Of Course Trump was elected to change what it means to be a politician. He was elected to lead a culture war counteroffensive and that is what he is doing.
Taking on the NFL, chiding other world leaders at the UN, walking away from the Paris Climate accord, shaking up the “one China” policy of the US, these are things that have needed to be done for a long time, but no “play nice” politically correct politician would ever do.
Go Trump, Drain the Swamp.
One more reason to shut down DC, move the hub into the heartland, and convene congress as little as possible thereby giving politicians an opportunity to go to their respective homes and immerse themselves in the day to day life of THEIR community. Less opportunity of collusion with lobbyists, blackmailers, and feeling the need for five o’clock cocktails while giving away national security secrets to any who might listen.
For better or worse, our political system is a two party system.
Unfortunately, our political parties have become a corrupt uniparty owned and driven by America's Gomorrahan crime family syndicates, foreign interests and the socialized fourth estate.
Also unfortunate is that a third political party is not the viable solution it might appear to be, as there is too much power and inertia in place for a single, unestablished political entity to overcome.
The only viable solution is to first recover and restore one of the two existing parties, and then use it to recover and restore the nation.
This is what Reagan had done only to ultimately surrender the patient back to the uniparty via Bush the elder and all of the GOPe he brought with him.
Now it's deja vu all over again, with Trump taking on the role of lead American Medic this time, performing emergency political triage on both the Republican Party and the nation at the same time, and all while fighting against his and our vicious domestic uniparty enemies!! Wow!!!
Before Trump showed up, I was certain the country was lost.
Reagan was long gone and there was no one who could or would do what needs to be done to save US...other than maybe Donald J. Trump, that is! Whoa...never saw that coming.
"Time loves a hero, but only time will tell."
So far, so good...
Political consultants take a cut of advertising dollars - so political consultants choose candidates to represent who 'looks good, can raise lots of money, AND be easy to lead... as in, "we need another 10 million to spend on TV ads"....
In short - the mess we're in was caused by perverse incentives...
He certainly is.
I am glad I lived long enough to see this.
I’m glad you’re still here too, My FRiend! :)
