As rookie catcher Bruce Maxwell, who earlier in the day profanely bashed President Donald Trump on Instagram, became the first major-league player to kneel during the National Anthem on Saturday before Oaklands game at the Coliseum. The product of a military family, Maxwell placed his hand on his heart and faced the flag during the anthem while taking a knee before the game against Texas. Teammate Mark Canha placed his hand on Maxwells shoulder.

Such a hero.
Go back to counting your money.
It’s stupid but I doubt some asinine copy-catting will cause much of a stir, people will recognize the idiocy for what it is.
Deafied major league sports. Now it’s time to pull down the idols.
Even players from Japan and Latin America who can't speak a word of English don't pull this sh!t.
Canha should have pushed him over on his stomach to humiliate him.
I am begging, to all NHL players. DO NOT KNEEL. I’m not watching flicking golf all year. Come ON.
And now on to the MLB - all these franchises are going to go bankrupt when the fans are no longer fans of this outrage.
Release him, A’s. Now. (I won’t be holdng my breath).
In the cellar-——maybe he should practice more.
.
Ironically, I think the NBA has no issue with players pulling stunts during the national anthem. They went through this same sh!t back in the 1990s with some surly malcontent, and they added some very specific language to the standard player contracts in the next collective bargaining agreement.
There as an new upcoming alternative to the traditional 3 commercial spectator sports: Ultimate Frisbee. The sport is fast and exciting. The players are all decent, intelligent and well-mannered, as well as being superb athletes. I highly recommend Ultimate.
Great point. We dropped two nukes on Japan but their players show respect and know that the game is bigger than they are or their pet projects.
Shame on crowd if they did not walk out!
Would the late George Steinbrenner of the Yankees put up with it?
Would Tony La Russa put up with it with his teams?
That’s the question.
They're terrified with by the thought that some day the final stanza of the National Anthem might actually be sung, which contains these lines:
"...and this be our motto:
'In God is our trust'."
And, of course the loser leftists are cheering this fool on. Twitter is all a twit over this. More praise than disgust, as far as I can tell. Sickening to see.
trying to get traded/cut to get to a better team. Good luck with that . . .
