People Ignore Facts That Contradict Their False Beliefs
Strategic Culture ^ | 9.22.17 | Eric Zuesse

The more people there are who ignore facts that contradict their beliefs, the likelier a dictatorship will emerge within a given country. Here is how aristocracies, throughout the Ages, have controlled the masses, by taking advantage of this widespread tendency people have, to ignore contrary facts:

People Ignore Facts That Contradict Their False Beliefs

One of which is often that they are smarter than everyone else; this is called the Dunning Kruger effect.

Hmmm, I don’t remember all this concern under the tyrant Obama. The man ruled by the use of a pen, constantly.

I’m betting this writer believed a lot of stuff there were facts to disprove back then.

And they still do evidently.

The author is a Sanders kook. His premise is that there are conservatives, liberals, and right-thinking people who agree with him. And the “liberals” of whom he speaks are, supposedly, Adam Smith liberals.

The reality is, of course, that the meaning of “liberal” was essentially inverted between the Adam Smith era and the present day. According to Safire's New Political Dictionary, this occurred in the 1920s.

Anyone who tries to argue liberalism without understanding that the word’s meaning was hijacked a century ago is, to be charitable, naturally going to be confused.

It’s human nature. As evident here as anywhere else.

Title is true (but why "false beliefs"? People ignore facts that contradict each or any of their beliefs), but the guy who wrote it is loopy.

He seems to be on a one man crusade for "progressivism" and thinks that word is more substantial a thing than it really is.

It’s human nature. As evident here as anywhere else. Exactly. Both sides do it, I try to be aware.

Eric Zuesse, the pure Democracy Progressive, (Marxist Mob Rule) says: "People who insist upon deceiving themselves disgust me."

This from the guy that knows the longest a Marxist system has survived in world history is 75 years, compared to longer survival times for all the competing economic systems.

Must be fun when he looks in the mirror.

This premise can also extend into the world of “comparative religions”.

“To say what ‘so’ is SO, and to say what is ‘not’ is NOT!”

Hmm

I wonder if this would have been a better title for the article?
