North Korea claims sanctions threaten the survival of its children
American Thinker ^ | 09/21/2017 | Rick Moran

Han Tae-song, Pyongyang's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, took advantage of a hearing by a U.N. committee on children to whine about how sanctions "seriously threaten" the health and well-being of North Korea's children.

What's ironic about the ambassador's warning is that the hearing he was testifying at was held to look into independent allegations of forced child labor, sexual abuse, and trafficking in North Korea.

Reuters:

Han said North Korea, whose population is 26 million, is a "people-centered socialist country... where protection and promotion of the rights and welfare of the child are given top priority ... There is room for improvement."

But Han said that new sanctions imposed by the United States and the U.N. Security Council over North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile tests were hampering the production of nutritional goods for children and provision of textbooks.

"The persistent and vicious blockade and sanctions against the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) are not only hampering the endeavors for the protection and promotion of the rights of the child but also seriously threatening their right to survival," he said, calling for sanctions to be lifted.

The U.N. Security Council has unanimously imposed nine rounds of sanctions on North Korea since 2006, the latest earlier this month capping fuel supplies to the isolated state.

Han said that North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un – denounced by U.S. President Donald Trump as "Rocket Man" – "personally guides the construction in different parts of the country of schoolchildren's palaces, children's hospitals, baby homes, children's homes, and primary and secondary boarding schools and works with devotion for the well-being of the young generation".

I think I'm going to be sick.

NK cares more for their children than any devout islam does. When, not if the current moron in charge of NK fades away, islam will still be the biggest threat to humanity.

Someone tell our Pope that.

Yes, I hear ya.

He’s spent so much money on his programs, and probably not 1/10th as much on feeding his people.

His entire population is completely expendable, down to the last man, woman and child. He could care less about them.
What I think is interesting, is that in many cases, it's the rats that first claim it's about the children. In rocket man's case, it's the last thing he claims. The rats will probably say, it's an impeachable offense. What ass hats 🎩

Interesting point, firsts and lasts.

Whew!

Kim is arguably less of a demagogue than a U.S. Democrat (although I admittedly used the initials U.S. rather recklessly there). (as if they’re loyalist citizens / not)

I honestly feel so bad for the little ones. The NK adults need to step up and protect their children, unless they are too afraid and/or brainwashed.

NK is now using our own compassion for children against us. Very painful tactic, because no one wants people, especially children, to starve.

Well, the best thing he (L’il Kim, or Rocket Man, LOL!) would be to do is to put down the nukes, allow people who all want to (and there are plenty of them), to help feed his people.

And he might consider shedding a few pounds. It doesn’t look great when you are huge and your people are starving.

He truly is a lunatic.

The army gets fed first, then the children.

That’s so they can do the “Radio City Rockettes” high leg kicks when they are marching in parades.

Sanctions hurt the North Korean children almost as much as threatening other countries with nuclear annihilation.

Lift the sanctions “For the children”.

“For the children” and “Take the issues to the people” are probably the most lying words at any political level!!

The sanctions did not cause poverty in North Korea. It’s singular focus on its resources to serve the military and its ambition to acquire a nuclear arsenal have a lot more to do with poverty in North Korea than U.S. or U.N. sanctions.

Sanctions did not create the gulag of political prisons, political prison camps, forced labor camps and all the torture , starvation, executions and murders that go on there.

I could go on, over the dozens of ways that poverty in North Korea has been created and it is essentially a self-inflicted result of the policies and philosophy of the dictatorship in North Korea.
