Brazilian activists and celebrities have condemned a court ruling that approves a "cure" for gay people. Waldemar de Carvalho, a federal judge in the capital Brasilia, backed a psychologist who had her licence revoked for offering so-called "conversion therapy". Rozangela Justino is an evangelical Christian who has called homosexuality "a disease". Critics have called the ruling regressive and medically unsound. Brazil's Federal Council of Psychology banned psychologists from offering treatments that claim to change people's sexuality in 1999. It said in a statement that the decision "opens the dangerous possibility of the use of sexual reversion therapies" and promised to fight it in court. Prominent pop star Anitta shared her disgust in an online video, which has been watched by over a million people. "That's what happens in my country. People dying, hungry, the government killing the country with corruption, no education, no hospitals, no opportunities... and the authorities are wasting their time to announce that homosexuality is a sickness," she said.
Ivete Sangolo, another of Brazil's most popular singers, wrote on Instagram: "The sick ones are those who believe in this great absurdity." Her post has been liked over 236,000 times since it was posted a day ago.
On Twitter, many users shared support for the gay community, posting pictures and cartoons condemning the verdict. "Of course, because in this country it is more important to 'cure' human sexuality than to treat prejudice," one man wrote in Portuguese. "There's no cure for what is not a disease," others tweeted, using the hashtag #curagay ("gay cure"). That view was shared by Rogério Giannini, head of the Federal Council of Psychology, who told the UK's Guardian newspaper there was no medical basis for the alleged therapy.

Given that most homosexuals are the victims of childhood sex abuse, this therapy is normal rape therapy.
The headline should be:
“Homosexuals protest rape therapy”
After all the things I’ve seen in my life I am a firm believer in the fact that people are BORN THAT WAY, and no amount of therapy can change them.
There ARE people who are just sexually promiscuous - I’m not talking about those.
Ask a heterosexual male- is there ANY amount of therapy that would make you sop liking girls? AND be interested in men? It’s the same with gay people. I know some and have some in my family and that’s what they say.
It’s the IN YOUR FACE attitude that seems to be a part of the current society. It’s gone way past ‘acceptance’ into ‘forced compliance’. And that is causing a backlash, that a lot of them are NOT going to like.
I’m 6’5 and 260 pounds- I’ve never been in a fight in my life, because I’ve never had to. But the closest I’ve ever come is when a gay guy started trying to come onto me at a bar- I swear I thought I was going to beat him senseless. And it was not a ‘decision’ I made to do it- it was just a physical reaction I could not control.
Other guys I’ve talked to experience the same thing. I’ve told this to gay people and very few of them ‘get it’. It was like trying to explain how guys think to a girl. Try THAT some time.
But, its coming if this crap does not stop.
From they way the left presents this, you’d think “gays” were being herded up in boxcars and shipped to re-education camps. What a bunch of nonsense.
All this allows is for people to freely CHOOSE to get therapy they want.
Why are there so many homos today?
It’s probably from all the birth control pills resulting from the sexual revolution.
The hormones get in the drinking water and boys who should have grown up as normal males, now get female hormone exposure and wind up as queers. They all need a big shot of testosterone to reverse their plight.
no no no no... I did not say whether I think it is ‘normal’ or not- I just said it is a real condition and not a choice.
Than I agree with you. But behavior is always a choice.
There’s also the question of women on “the pill” coming off of it to get pregnant. Who knows what lingering hormonal damage has resulted which affects the developing child?
