Two looters were stopped by Jacksonville police while attempting to steal a power pole in the wake of Hurricane Irma. The highly conspicuous thieves were caught red-handed with the pole on top of their SUV. The looters also attached a flag, made of what appears to be t-shirts, to the back of the pole for safety. It is not clear what they intended to use to pole for. Twitter users noted they would have struggled to sell it for recycling considering it is obviously a stolen power pole.

They were thinking that they could use the pole for their Stars & Bars flag.
Believe me, I know the patterns all too well. It does make me cringe a little bit in that if someone was just seeing FR for the first time and those comments were the first ones they saw, then it would paint us in a negative light. But yes, facts are facts when it comes to crime statistics.
Some people ARE born STUPID!.........................
As soon as I read that the looting required unusual exertion: uprooting & lifting a public utility power pole up and onto, then securing it to an evil SUV, I knew it didn’t involve Dindus.
An electrical power pole isn’t a 50” Sanyo.
W-we didn’t just fall off the turnip truck.
I don't care if they are "white trash", "black trash" or "mexican trash". I don't care if it is power poles or a pair of Nikes. SHOOT THEM!
Not on my account. Those two should'a been shot as much as any other.
“It does make me cringe a little bit in that if someone was just seeing FR for the first time and those comments were the first ones they saw, then it would paint us in a negative light”
Not necessarily. I love FR has such a variety of subjects. The funny ones are many times the best.
A stretch calling that looting when it looks more like plain ‘ol theft, but, to-MAY-to, to-MAH-to.
Those two guys on the curb fully intended to smoke things out of that pole!
Undocumented storm clean-up crew.
Well they say go big or go home. I guess they didn’t realize how conspicuous they looked with a power pole on an SUV roof.
Looters from shoes to power poles all need to face extra charges for being criminal during a crisis or something like that. Not to mention the additional time it takes to get power restored when equipment is stolen, these two should face maximum looting charges.
Scum is scum.
Florida man is a diverse category.
“We wuz jes’ looking for the power company guys to give them this here pole, Officer!”
Yup. And if there was no picture posted, there would have been a lot of do I even have to guess? comments as well.
...
Well, they had the courtesy to tie a flag on the end. That’s acting white if you ask me.
As actor James Woods tweeted when the looting began,
“Make sure you hide your cash under work boots.”
Joe McCarthy was right. John Derbyshire was right.
And when we start reading and profile the perps by the second line in 99 out of a hundred threads like this one, we freepers are right.
There’s no need to apologize for being right.
Aluminum poles can be harvested with a chain saw. The poles are worth $.50 a pound or so.
“Aluminum poles can be harvested with a chain saw.”
Now that’s funny.....but doesn’t do much for the chain saw chain. They’re a pain to sharpen.
