House Speaker Paul Ryan said Wednesday that it was "not in our nation's interest" to expel the roughly 800,000 young people protected from deportation by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
"I do believe that kicking these 800,000 kids out to countries that they have probably not been to since they were toddlers, countries that speak languages that they may not even know, is not in our nation’s interest," Ryan said...

What you fail to grasp, is yes, sure the numbers have doubled since April.
They are still 40% lower than they were last year this time.
That’s 20,000 fewer per month even now.
So the headline that says rates have increased 100% since April, while factual, is ultimately very misleading.

I do grasp...however, your comment that immigration is down 70 to 80 percent is misleading as well. It is not anymore. The trend is away from that percentage and has been for several months.
Maybe instead of defending your initial stat, you should consider the article and the stats to be a yellow flag—a warning that we are losing ground on this issue...They are increasingly coming because they don’t think there will be a wall and they think DACA will continue.
I get the feeling you are going to endorse everything Trump does because he is our guy. Sorry, I have to weigh each action on its merits. I am very happy with some actions taken by this administration, less so with others...but I decide each based on the merit. Regarding illegal immigration?

llegal immigration across the southwest border has doubled in the last four months, according to new government data that suggests the early gains of President Trump’s tenure are wearing off.
More than 30,000 illegal immigrants were nabbed in August, up 22 percent compared to July and up nearly 100 percent compared to April, when fewer than 16,000 illegal immigrants were arrested by the Border Patrol or stopped at ports of entry by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers.
The numbers are still lower than they were a year before under Mr. Obama, but the gains Mr. Trump made in his first months in office are dissipating.
Officials say the number of people caught is a rough yardstick for the total flow, so more apprehensions means more people are trying — and succeeding — in getting through.
The spikes were apparent across a number of demographic sectors. Cubans, Haitians, illegal immigrant children traveling alone and families traveling together all posted increases.
Likewise every sector along the U.S.-Mexico border saw increases in the number of illegal immigrants nabbed by agents.

The trend is more illegals are coming across the border. Yes, fewer than last year, but the trend is not increasing or holding, it is decreasing. But we are supposed to just ignore that and celebrate.
I don’t consider that trend to be good news...as the article states, more apprehensions means more crossings.
Again, you can cheer and claim we are winning immigration...I plan to try to do what I can to put pressure on my congresscritter to fund the wall and end DACA.

That’s a 240,000 per year rate.

I’ll agree with Ryan 99%. Deporting 800,000 illegal invaders will cost a lot of money, and that’s a waste.
I have a better option. Deport 8,000 of these criminals, with court orders barring them from ever returning to our country - and ten years in prison if they come back legally or illegally. Then give the remainder of the Dreamers and the rest of the 12 million plus invaders 30 days to self-deport or face two years in prison followed by deportation and the same ban. My way would save 99% of the cost of fixing the problem, and that is in our nation’s interest.
