Amazon erasing negative reviews of Hillary Clinton
Fortune Mag ^ | Sep 12, 2017 8:55 AM ET | Claire Zillman

Hillary Clinton's new book about the 2016 presidential race titled What Happened went on sale Tuesday. In the long lead-up to its release, Clinton and her publisher Simon & Schuster promised that the book would be a candid account of the former secretary of state's dramatic election loss to Donald Trump and an honest reflection on what the experience has meant to her. Some book critics say Clinton's latest title delivers the kind of authenticity that she's lacked in the past. The New York Times' Jennifer Senior calls the book a "feminist manifesto," "a score-settling jubilee," and "worth reading." Others, meanwhile, fault Clinton for using the 464-page text to blame players like Bernie Sanders, James Comey, and Vladimir Putin for the election defeat, rather than taking responsibility herself. And then there are the decidedly less analytical reviews that are already populating the book's Amazon listing. Given the current political climate and the venomous nature of the 2016 race, it's probably no surprise that critics of Clinton have used one-star reviews to further communicate their dislike of the former first lady, or in some cases, peddle conspiracy theories about Clinton and husband Bill.

Jeff Bezos is evil, and Trump REALLY needs to take an anti-trust hammer to his Evil Empire.

If Bezos were Conservative,he would be considered a job god and capitalist hero and his company an economic trailblazing giant. If anything ,let the free market work.

It is a shame most if not all corporations are run by obnoxious liberals. Anti-trust and RICO should be applied to the Clinton Foundation not a decent company that provides a service with thousands of new jobs expanding economic growth not only in America, but throughout the world.

I know that works (no HTML) in regular reply posts. Are you sure the same applies to 1st reply/1st OP thread post comment, as well? Too lazy to do a ‘test’ post to verify :-)

The author of the article writes “or in some cases, peddle conspiracy theories about Clinton and husband Bill.”

It would never occur to the author that Hillary’s book is just peddling conspiracy theories about why Hillary lost. The author would never use such language to describe a Democrat.

It’s so easy and soul cleansing to be a Liberal once you’ve used (and possibly abused) the capitalist system to become set for life.

45% positive verified reviews, 50% negative. Nothing in between. Perhaps yours is in the lost 5%.

Amazon is following in the footsteps of Netflix, who ended their 1 to 5 star rating system for streaming movies and TV shows in favor of a thumbs up/thumbs down system after an Amy Schumer comedy special on Netflix got mostly one-star reviews.

I agree.

I have written many one star reviews, and they all stand. Some were for PC crap, but I did read it.

Sorry a “decent company” does not buy the Washington Post and turn it into a buzzsaw to launch repeated attacks on POTUS.

Also, “decent companies” like Amazon, Google and Facebook are currently spending billions of dollars bribing your state legislators to undermine any attempts to shore-up internet privacy protections.

“Amazon should routinely delete comments from people who haven’t read the book that’s being reviewed.”

But buying a book doesn’t mean you read it.

Additionally, in the case of politically partisan books, most buyers are biased in favor of the topic to start with.

I’m sure 90% of the people that bought this book are still trying to get over Hildabeast’s defeat and still adore her. So don’t expect to read any unbiased review from the people that bought the book.

By the way the same goes for books written by conservatives. We ain’t any more holier than they are.

The important question is, does Amazon use same policy across the board?

The HTML rule applies throughout FR. I copy/paste articles regularly with no HTML as the OP, along with my initial comment.

deport - I appreciate you were helping as was I in pointing out that one does not have to climb the HTML learning curve to participate on FR. I, too, wish you the best in your day and good FReeping always!!

It might not have looked that way on Amazon, though. Something as simple as using just one HTML term in a post to FR will cause any other formatting to be lost.

Ya know, that's one huge problem with modern liberals. They are illiberal because they won't go all the way. They are illiberal towards conservatives. They are illiberal towards God, which is even worse!

They beat on everyone else, and then expect the velvet glove treatment themselves and for their favorites. That ain't gonna work -- what goes around comes around.

People can fight back by voting up the remaining negative and mixed reviews so those rank higher than the good ones.
