This is a typical Tea Party story you might have heard from 2010, and indicative of the GOPs failed attempts to kill the Trump movement. Roy Moore appears set to steamroll Mitch McConnell-backed Luther Strange. The GOP has been pouring money into Alabama to try to defeat Moore, but it looks like a huge waste of cash:

There will be a huge crossover Dem vote to try to assist, ala Haley Barberesque. The margin will need to be close, or the GOPRATS will let him lose so save the ammo for later. If the polls tighten, a voting sh*tstorm will brew.
Let’s pray that Roy sends Lex Luther Strange to the Phantom Zone.
So what do we do with our money? Spend it on Hellers opponent and hope for the best? I think there are plenty of Democrats who will vote for the 10 commandments.
I am hoping we see another tide shift next year, a second wave behind Trump to get things rolling toward implementing Trump’s agenda.
As the election nears, and the GOPe find their candidates being slaughtered in the primaries, Congress may swing our way big-time.
If not, we’ll have to wait for spring 2019.
At that point, the GOPe won’t have the choice to get out of the way any longer. It will be kicked out of the way.
It will be DOA, the arrivals of new Conservative blood.
I don’t think this is as much a repudiation of McConnell’s endorsement (although that doesn’t hurt) as it is an affirmation of the people of Alabama’s vote for righteousness. And no, that is not a dirty word.
Are these the same polls that said that Hillary was going to win an historic landslide?
If the President keeps working with Democrats, 2018 will be a disaster. If he wants to be seen as a success ultimately, he will have to fight against the Swamp of BOTH parties. GOP will only then begin to do the right thing. Supporting McConnell clone Luther Strange is disheartening, to say the least. I am not optimistic.
Nice summary. Pretty much my take as well.
People who voted for the Dem in the primary cannot vote Rep in the run-off...

Thanks, but that is only my hope, and the realization that it may or may not come to pass.
It’s very imperative that folks primary out more Leftist Congress critters.
If he continues to find deals like this one, I’m all for him continuing to work with the Democrats.
Would you refuse a tax cut offered up by the Democrats?
Would you refuse Obamacare repeal offered up by the Democrats?
If the Republicans refuse to do Trump’s bidding, then it’s time to find someone who will.
Each case would stand on it’s own merits, but this first instance was fine by me.
Are there really that many Democrats in Alabama to cross over?
Alabama went 62%-34% for Trump in 2016.

Nope. That would be a diesel-powered road roller. 8<)
No steam engine on that puppy.
Didn’t Trump endorse Luther Strange?
When I see REAL tax cuts or Maobamacare repeal from Chuck U or other Democrats, I’ll believe it.
Trump sure DID endorse Strange Luther. Pathetic. He ought to have stayed OUT of it.
