Tony Rezko, former fundraiser and friend of President Barack Obama and former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, was sentenced on Tuesday to ten and a half years in prison for corruption.
Rezko, 56, has already served about 44 months of the 126-month sentence on his 2008 conviction for corruption including fraud, money laundering and attempting to get $7 million in kickbacks from companies seeking to win deals during Blagojevichs tenure as governor the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve said Rezkos actions during Blagojevichs term were selfish and corrupt. She called his attempts to arrange kickbacks with a board member of the Teachers Retirement System particularly reprehensible, telling him in court, You put their retirements at risk for your own greed and your own thirst for power, the Sun-Times reported.
Before he was sentenced, Rezko apologized and told the court that there are no words to describe the pain and regret he feels and for what he put his family through. ...
Obama also involved Rezko in a house deal after he was elected to the U.S. Senate, a move he later called a boneheaded mistake, according to a 2008 report in ABC News.
Obama wanted to purchase a home that the seller had a specific condition on: the adjacent empty lot to the house had to be purchased at the same time, ABC News reported. In the house deal, Rezkos wife paid the full asking price for that parcel, $625,000.
Obama shelled out $300,000 under the houses asking price, paying $1.65 million, according to ABC News. Obama then purchased a part of Rezkos lot for $104,500.
It was a mistake to have been engaged with him at all in this or any other personal business dealing that would allow him, or anyone else, to believe he had done me a favor, Obama told the Sun-Times at the time.
Obama said his connection to Rezko was above board and legal.
Rezko and others connected to him gave Obamas 2004 Senate campaign more than $120,000, ABC News reported.

Grat and corruption - it’s the Democrat way.
And no doubt, some GOP Establishment.
They’ve made a fine art of misappropriating Other People’s Money, writing laws to protect themselves, writing laws to give themselves more power, and covering and ignoring the crimes of their buddies (ain’t that right, Robert Mueller?).
They’re “just guys in his neighborhood” - another deceit by The Manchurian Candidate Barack Hussein Obama.
dang it - s/b
“Graft and corruption”
Blago didn’t do anything lots of other powerful politicians have done. He was just a bit to direct with his offers.
At a minimum, he’s an NOI muslim - he may have “publicly rejeced” Calypso Louie, who called him “the messiah” and then “a murderer” (after getting NATO to bomb Libya).
There’s a reason Dr. Jeremiah What’s Happening Wright had his Trumpet magazine honor Calypso Louie in 2007 - hmmm, “Christians” embracing islam. Gee, how......antichrist-like.
Your democrat pals screwed ya, huh?
Great work and reminders, ETL.
Gotta wonder what he has and where it’s hidden that’s keeping him alive.
Communists like Obama have no genuine religious faith, of any kind. The 'church' he attended under Jeremiah Wright for 20+ years promoted "Liberation Theology". LT was concocted by the KGB in the 1960s. Farrakhan too is another that uses a bogus, concocted religion to push for communism.
Don't have much time at the moment, but I'll leave you with this...
In short, Farrakhan's true hero and inspiration is communist mass murderer Mao Tse-tung. I know Wright was once a member of NOI, but, again, the NOI is a fake religious movement just like Obama and Wright's.

Millions More Movement
The Millions More Movement held an important all-day rally Oct. 15, 2005 on the National Mall that attracted an overwhelmingly African-American crowd numbering more than 1 million, according to organizers. The main demand put forth by the rally organizers and supported by the masses there was Black power!
Not one U.S. flag was prominent in the crowd, but the colors of the flag for U.S. Black liberationred, black and greencould be seen everywhere.
This MMM rally was first announced in 2004 as a commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Million Man March on Oct. 16, 1995, held at the same site. That event attracted at least 1 million, mainly Black men, and was initiated by the Nation of Islam.
The speeches were focused on a variety of issues: the prison system and the plight of political prisonersespecially Mumia Abu-Jamal, Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin (formerly H. Rap Brown) and Leonard Peltier-police brutality, reparations, voter disenfranchisement, LGBT oppression, immigrant rights, economic and political empowerment, education and health, the role of art and culture in the struggle for social justice, and much more.
The main presentation at this rally was given by the MMMs national convener and NOI leader, the Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan.
Among the many other speakers were Clarence Thomas and Chris Silvera from the Million Worker March Movement; Dr. Dorothy Height of the National Council of Negro Women; Indigenous leaders Russell Means and Vernon Bellecourt; Congress woman Sheila Jackson; Haitian singer Wyclef Jean; Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson; Viola Plummer of the Dec. 12 Movement; Damu Smith, Black Voices for Peace; and comedian and social activist Dick Gregory.
In a videotaped message played to the crowd, the president of Cubas National Assembly, Ricardo Alarcón, expressed the Cuban peoples solidarity with Katrina survivors and all the poor in the U.S. He also spoke about the case of the Cuban 5, who were imprisoned for fighting against terrorism while the U.S. aids and shelters real terrorists like Luis Posada Carriles. Louis Farrakhan speech
Louis Farrakhan, at the Millions More Movement rally in DC, Oct 15, 2005: "...what Mao Tse Tung did was, he went to the cultural community, and they [Farrakhan spreads his arms beneficently] accepted his idea."... "Mao Tse Tung ... had a billion people whose lives he had to transform."..."the idea of Mao Tse Tung became the idea of a billion people, and China became a world power on the base of the culture and the arts community. If we had a ministry of art and culture in every city we'd create this movement [in the U.S.]."
