Pope Francis has warned history will judge world leaders who do not act as he blasted climate change sceptics in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Harvey. The pontiff said the recent storms meant the effects of climate change could be seen "with your own eyes". There have been four major Atlantic hurricanes in less than three weeks. But US Environmental Protection Agency head Scott Pruitt said it was an inappropriate time to discuss what role climate change may have played. Mr Pruitt - who has previously said he "would not agree" carbon dioxide is a primary contributor to global warming - told CNN current speculation "on the cause and effect of the storm... is misplaced". Instead, Mr Pruitt said the conversation should be focused on the clean up effort.
Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado - whose city ended up partially underwater as Hurricane Irma swept across Florida - disagreed however, telling the Miami Herald newspaper: "This is the time to talk about climate change. This is the time that the president and the EPA and whoever makes decisions needs to talk about climate change."
Hurricanes are complex, naturally occurring beasts - extremely difficult to predict, with or without the backdrop of rising global temperatures. The scientific reality of attributing a role to climate change in worsening the impact of hurricanes is also hard to tease out, simply because these are fairly rare events and there is not a huge amount of historical data. But there are some things that we can say with a good deal of certainty. There's a well-established physical law, the Clausius-Clapeyron equation, that says that a hotter atmosphere holds more moisture. For every extra degree Celsius in warming, the atmosphere can hold 7% more water.

In some parts of the US the climate changes four times a year.
Time to start taxing the Church.
Popes’ track record taking sides on scientific debates is not stellar.
Bingo. This Pope appears to be an atheist. He has no interest in anything but earthly matters.
The Pope and others would do well to consider Psalm 29:
A Psalm of David.
1Ascribe to the LORD, O sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name;
Worship the LORD in holy array.
3The voice of the LORD is upon the waters;
The God of glory thunders,
The LORD is over many waters.
4The voice of the LORD is powerful,
The voice of the LORD is majestic.
5The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;
Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
And Sirion like a young wild ox.
7The voice of the LORD hews out flames of fire.
8The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;
The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve
And strips the forests bare;
And in His temple everything says, Glory!
10The LORD sat as King at the flood;
Yes, the LORD sits as King forever.
11The LORD will give strength to His people;
The LORD will bless His people with peace.
“I really dont want to be in the position of having to criticize the leader of a church...”
I kept my mouth shut until about a year ago. Then, it became impossible to pretend this Pope cares about Catholicism at all. I suspect he doesn’t even believe in God. He is focused almost entirely on earthly matters, commenting on Catholics only to mock and insult people who actually believe and practice the faith.
Do your bloody JOB, Frankie.
The socialist Pope is not amused that the Vaticans cut of the Americans taxpayers trillions towards Global hoaxing may not happen. Really don’t have any respect for that guy.
Whatever.
I think the big corporations want to use “climate change” as a means to control the economy in their favor and against little people who would be burdened by climate regulations.
Big government is also in on it because climate change can be the excuse for energy taxes on utility bills to fund governments.
The Pope of Big Business and Big Government........
The nuns who taught me for grades k-8 would be flabbergasted with this antichrist pope. They were very conservative.
Comrade Pope should limit his comments on Climate Change (aka better known as Global Warming) ... Tis better to keep quiet and be thot a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
U.N. Official Admits Global Warming Agenda Is Really About Destroying Capitalism
The rock star Popester sticks his foot in his mouth again. He doesn’t know a damn thing about the climate— nor Christianity for that matter.
I’ve had occasion to address comments of other Pope’s from time to time. I don’t recall having to do it to this extent.
Use to be I could be rather apologetic and address the infraction. With this guy any pretense of respect is gone.
I don’t think that build respect for the church.
Your comments remind me of some of my own thoughts. Thanks.
“Climate Change” is the chosen hoax of the Globalists to institute Marxism.
I agree. I wish religious leaders would not hold themselves out as experts on secular. matters== Protestant Jewish or Catholic. I read what he said as painfully close to Church Doctrine. If it is an opinion — they are entitled with that caveat.
Shouldn’t he be concentrating on praying for whirled peas or something like that?
Can pope Benedict please return at least until a new pope can be found? Ps: maybe Francis should just ring up The Boss to change the weather to whatever climate Francis likes?
The Pope of #FakeScience. Algore is his god.
I agree and would add the 4 consecutive chapters from the book of Job... 38 to 41 inclusive. Here are the first 7 versus of Job 38 that give a sense of the magnificence of God and the puniness of mankind.... 1. Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? 3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. 4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? 6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; 7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? .......
