AK Gov strips Patriot out of Patriot's Day and pushes diversity & tolerance over 9/11 victims

Governor Walker removes Patriot from 9-11 ‘Patriot Day’

Patriot Day is so … patriotic. Maybe a bit too patriotic for Alaska Gov. Bill Walker.

Gov. Walker has declared it “September 11 Commemoration Day,” a day where “we as Americans reflect on the importance to our nation of freedom, tolerance, patriotism, diversity, and respect for others, and are grateful for the rights and freedoms that we hold as Americans;”

This word play doesn’t happen by accident. Someone changed it from Patriot Day to Commemoration Day. Someone approved it. And the governor signed it. Did he know that he had taken patriotism out of Patriot Day? Of course he did.

The Walker Administration made a decision to remove not only the overriding concept of patriotism but to erase the emotional reaction Americans have to the horrific attack on our nation, the evil that incited it, and heroism that followed. Now it’s really just about community service.

On the day before our 425th Brigade left Alaska for Afghanistan, as it has done several times before since 9-11, Walker made no mention of the heroism and courage of our men and women in uniform.

Instead, the word “patriotism” was tucked in among politically correct verbiage that completely missed the point of the day: We were attacked. Innocents died. Our freedoms have been curtailed. Our men and women in uniform have fought, been injured, and many have died.

Instead, the Walker proclamation phoned it in with a nearly clinical nod to the most heinous attack on American soil — ever.

Unbelievable. (I'll get to that in a minute.)

On September 11, 2001, 2,977 Americans were killed in the largest Islamic Jihadist terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

As a spouse of a firefighter, the number 343 always reminds me of the day that Ben and I watched the attacks unfold. We watched firefighters rushing into the towers, we saw the second tower hit, then the towers collapse. Then, the chirping of firefighter alarms started. My husband looked at me and said "do you have any idea how many firefighters just got killed?" The most sober moment of my life. Many wouldn't have realized what those alarms meant, but Ben did, and I'll never forget it.

Now to the unbelievable part. Enter PC speak.

Per Suzanne Downing w/Must Read Alaska:

"The Walker Administration made a decision to remove not only the overriding concept of patriotism but to erase the emotional reaction Americans have to the horrific attack on our nation, the evil that incited it, and heroism that followed. Now it’s really just about community service."

"Gov. Walker has declared it “September 11 Commemoration Day,” a day where “we as Americans reflect on the importance to our nation of freedom, tolerance, patriotism, diversity, and respect for others, and are grateful for the rights and freedoms that we hold as Americans;”"

That's sounds all nice, PC, and whatnot, but completely ignores the reality of why 2,977 Americans were murdered.

I'm sorry Gov. Walker, I'm not celebrating the "diversity" or "tolerance" of Islamic jihadists that want to kill us and destroy the values of the country Americans hold dear. I don't respect them; their type of evil needs to be eradicated, not "respected."

I will spend September 11th, as many days, reflecting on the exceptionalism of America, her incredible people, those victims who died, and the heroes who not only lost their lives, but protect us every day. All Americans were attacked on 9/11, as was our freedom and our way of life. 9/11 is a somber day for me. 343. 2,977. Those aren't numbers to simply commemorate; they are people to be remembered, and it should be a reminder of who, what, and why it happened, so we can prevent it in the future.

God Bless the United States of America, her people, and all those who support and defend her.

I’m in a state of “reflecting on diversity” fatigue.

Gov Walker is nuts.

It’s not unbelievable- Obama said, stated and proclaimed 9/11 every year as community service day.

That was not unintentional but to A - de-emphasize that the attack was against America and it’s values B - sympathize with that viewpoint and C- increase socialism.

Does he have an example of the blessings of diversity? Like a plaster cast of footprints, odd hair samples, or unidentifiable scat?

If not, the Bigfoot guys are way ahead of him.

Remember when 9/11 happened? The thing on everyone’s mind was that life here would never be the same and that we would never forget. Well, apparently a lot of people have forgotten...intentionally. 9/11 wasn’t committed by a planeload of Eagle Scouts.

Walker ran for Governor of Alaska in the Republican Party primary election in 2010, losing to incumbent Sean Parnell.

Walker ran as an Independent in the 2014 election, merging his campaign with that of Democratic nominee Byron Mallott, who became Walker’s running mate.

America should celebrate the original Patriot’s Day, April 19th. They do in MA. Should be a national holiday.
