RANDOLPH, N.J. (AP) — A school official says dozens of students were detained and ordered to undergo blood and urine testing after a can of beer was discovered at a New Jersey high school football game.

Randolph Superintendent Jennifer Fano said in a letter posted on the district’s website that the can was found Friday night near a student section of the bleachers at Randolph High School.

The students were pulled from the stands and their parents were called so they could be screened for alcohol. Students who refused the screening face suspension under school district policy.

I played football in high school, so would have been safe from this scrutiny.

That said, I never would have made it through Hockey and basketball season.

If you are old enough to die for the country you should have the right to drink alcoholic beverages.

“Isn’t this reaction a bit over the top?”

Did people think there would be no consequences to the feminization of America?

Sexism, and in particular the glass ceiling, evolved over millennia to serve very specific and salubrious purposes.

The real horror of this story is that it appears not one parent told them to pound sand. I’d tell my sons never agree and if they suspended him we’d go straight to a lawyer.

“There is no ending of the stupidity of liberals running schools.”

Last night my son’s high school football team had a game. I was standing in line waiting for tickets when I was approached by a woman carrying some very expensively printed propaganda sheets pimping for a proposed tax increase for the local school district.

I told her, “It’s not going to do any good to give these schools more money. You need new teachers. I have XX children, and I have seen that the teachers here are low-grade morons.”

Oddly enough, she seemed to be shocked. I don’t think anyone had ever presented her with that proposition before.

Beer was kind of bulky and to hard to hide to bring into the stadium; it was for the post-game party. Flasks of bourbon to liven up concession stand cokes were the gametime beverage.

"Fano has apologized to the students who tested negative. She says the school board would pay for the cost of testing those students."

And, uh, where is the school board going to get the money to pay the cost of testing those students? Will they print it?

The woman is not just a PC moron, she is an economic illiterate idiot, too.

Absolutely correct. The States should not have been blackmailed by the Feds ability to print money, and kept the drinking age at 18 or what ever they had decided.

I would include everyone in school administration in that idea.

Is this Superintendent Fano or IS IT REALLY Nurse Ratchett?

One can of beer?? What an outrage. Why, you would think they were high school students or something. /s

It could have been a parent who brought it....Did they check the moms, dads, grandparents, siblings, etc.? Did they check all of any of the homeless people within walking distance?

Ridiculous. The ACLU should get on this. Very unfair to the students.
