RANDOLPH, N.J. (AP) — A school official says dozens of students were detained and ordered to undergo blood and urine testing after a can of beer was discovered at a New Jersey high school football game.
Randolph Superintendent Jennifer Fano said in a letter posted on the district’s website that the can was found Friday night near a student section of the bleachers at Randolph High School.
The students were pulled from the stands and their parents were called so they could be screened for alcohol. Students who refused the screening face suspension under school district policy.

High school students smuggling beer. Well, I almost never behaved like that.
Near a student section?
But not actually in one evidently.

Isn’t this reaction a bit over the top?
And, I wonder how the mechanics of this worked. I’m thinking that at a high school football game, there are many in the crowd who are not students at that school. People from the community, parents and family of players, students from the other school, members of the general public, will be in the crowd.
On what basis can they assume such broad police powers, to demand blood and pee samples??
Had it been a baggie of pot, it would have been pocketed and nothing heard.
First, was the can full or empty?
Next, was any student acting more stupid(ly) than normal?

Lawyers used to chase ambulances and now get to chase school buses.
Someone should slip an open beer into the principle’s office.

This was in the student section all by it’s lonesome.
Screw that noise. Catch me with it in my hand or pound sand.
Heck, in high school, some of our football team would get drunk before taking the field. And not just on beer.
My favorite was vodka injected oranges. This was the 60s and I was a square composed to most.

A psych screening needs to be done on the school officials behind this pathetic endeavor.
You forget these are the schools that suspend kids for eating a pop tart into the shape of a gun or a kid pointing their finger at another student and heaven forbid mentioning G-d in the classroom. One girl got suspended for sharing her asthma inhaler with another girl saving her life - yep, drug dealing. There is no ending of the stupidity of liberals running schools.
When I was in college band....the sousaphone players smuggled booze and cans of beer inside their horns into the games.

That was our marching band thing. We got to share the field with the local Shriners band one year. It was...epochal...
