Thanks metmom. So would the danger be that you could be blown out the window? Again, if you lay on the floor up against the far wall or in a hall even of the high rise......it might be ok. No? Just hold on to something and ride it out?
It’s more that you could be injured by windows breaking, and you would have to retreat to stairwells and deal with howling winds blowing rain and debris at you for hours.
Hold on to something for hours?
I doubt I could do it.
There is also flying debris to worry about.
And yes, I would worry about being blown or sucked out a window.
Me and heights do not get along well in the first place so the question of riding it out in a high rise will NEVER enter the equation.
However, there are some FReeprs who are made of sterner stuff than I when it comes to heights.
My niece vacated a high rise in Fort Lauderdale.I see the windows blowing out but you always have the hallway.Get your important papers together and pillow and blanket. You can always ride it out there.
One of the hardest things I've ever done in this life, was crawling thirty feet on my belly into a full strength hurricane-force wind, to an open doorway.
If you've never experienced it, you simply can't comprehend the power of those winds. They'll kill you.
