The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

Be careful of wobbles showing on these satellite gifs. The last data we had it was still going the same direction for hours. We’ll see.
Got it - learning so much on here!
HOLY COW that is a beautiful house!!
GO WEST YOUNG IRMA...
#WeAreHurricaneStrong
Sure is.
How could anybody do that?
How fast can it get here?
Yes there is.
Prayers for everyone, especially our beloved son and his family who thought they were in a safe area in Tampa, not on the coast, and, so, made the decision to stay. Their house was built to withstand 140 mph winds. Even so, this is a very scary. The Governor did not call for their location to be evacuated. Now, it looks as though the eye of the storm is headed straight in their direction. We are praying that God will move to dissipate the energy in this massive storm and move it out into the ocean. Please pray with us, everyone.
When the NWS says be prepared for "severe life threatening storm surge" they MEAN it. 9'+ SURGE reaches over SIX MILES inland around #Naples pic.twitter.com/NkiaiUTgmO— WeatherInTheHud (@WeatherInTheHud) September 10, 2017

things getting intense on that 3rd link
The hurricane is a woman. You know how women are in making decisions. You notice, with Harvey, he knew where he was going and, once there, didn't leave until he was ready.
Hard to say, depends upon when the turn really starts to get going.
This ridge is the forward edge of a high pressure system west of Irma. Usually causes rain along the ridge front where instability occurs. Pushing the ridge back simply meant pushing the rain front back at leading edge of ridge.
Thank you #WeAreHurricaneStrong
My Dad died 2 years ago and we sold his condo on Harbourside Drive in Longboat key because Mom was too sad to go down to it. Sold it 29 JUL 17. I guess Dad was telling us something from Heaven because we were sad to sell. Siesta Key, Mote Marine Aquarium, the Salty Dog, Colony, Dolphin Cafe are some of our best memories. I hope they are spared.
