The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

Saw that. Unreal. Reminded me of a pre-tsunami event.
The only thing wrong with their predictions is that they use too small an error channel.
They are doing their best.
They need to admit that predicting these movements is very imprecise.
It can’t according to a few posters here because of a mass of air pressure called a trough (I think that’s the name) that is pushing down and east that will keep IRMA from moving that direction.
Joe Bastardi has posted. He says Jose will wind up around Cape Hatterus(sp). He is still holding to Irma going up the Florida West coast. This was 2 hours ago.
Too many weather forecasters cut and paste. That’s far easier than doing their own research. Hey, the last hurricane did x,y,z so this one will, too.
Still, it’s good people got out just in case.

They keep referring to the spaghetti models. Bastardi says he likes his spaghetti with meatballs, but not hurricane projections.
Thanks. The one voice in this I trust.
What is gonna happen when they clash?
So Irma did not move out fast enough and is now going to hit that front?
That’s a gorgeous bridge! I hadn’t heard of it.
(And I thought the Chesapeake Bay bridge was scary...)
What the hell.
Fill up tonight because if that's the case, by this time tomorrow the msm will be encouraging higher and higher gas prices.
That makes two cases of skunky beer . You already made that promise once, if memory serves me right. Lol.
Oh yeah, she’s going to turn. Things are going to be different from the latest track, that’s all.
We’ll see if Irma stays in the expected cone.
It’s looking that way
What is truly kicking the NHC’s ass 1,000,000 folks from E. Florida hunkered down in it’s path.
Hotels are happy.
Maybe the size of this storm defies the normal tracking patterns.
Irma will continue West, perhaps even turn South West.
Not North.
That is what is happening.
It’s like a verbal Free Republic.
The Florida Navy channel is going to crank up during rescue and recovery.
The Hurricane Irma channel has about 1000 people in it right now, majority of them are on the ground.
