The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

Irma just jogged due West again.
Do you know if Joe Bastardi updated Weatherbell today? I couldn’t find it.
If they have impaired ability to communicate in anything but ASL, then they are likely living under the supervision of somebody who CAN understand English, and can explain to them at leisure.
Great Kevin Costner movie: “NO WAY OUT.” Seriously. If you’ve not seen it, a very good movie!
If Irma were to continue in the west-northwest direction, it would miss Florida entirely. Will have to turn soon if it is going to make Florida landfall.
We have had a nor’easter for about 2 days we will flood.#WeAreHurricaneStrong
thanks! not much change?
Thank you #WeAreHurricaneStrong
And that is why people don’t head the warnings
Still no turn an hour later.
Heads up Panama City...”
Another wobble back to the Cuban coast.

Cuba - Where the before and after hurricane pictures look about the same...
Did u say Anna Maria...? my sister and her restaurant are there. She did not act like she was leaving 3 days ago and this morn. she said she was too busy would call me later. I sure hope her life does not get destroyed she and her husband had to claw their way in. She just texted that she’s off island-some of the last off. Whew! going to stay in a nearby town on a high floor in a stone house with food water and a box of wine and some propane. said she hid cars on high land on coconut street. I suspect this will not be sufficient. Will pray for her-she is very strong, hell-bent personality.

Twitter thirsty for some “tragic” news. LOL
Boats break away in run of the mill bad storms.
LOL! ok, that’s funny
:)
Thank you! I have a daughter and 2 grandgirls in Gainesville, Fl. and they are not evacuating. My daughter has lived in various parts of Florida since 1995 and has been through numerous storms, one of which she rode out 2 blocks from the beach in Pensacola and said that was the scariest. They have a generator, plenty of propane for cooking, well water, and plenty of supplies. Irma will be a good deal weaker when it hits Gainesville, so I am praying they will be okay. You don’t know what it’s like until you live on the gulf coast. I’m almost 200 miles inland (in Alabama-same town AlasBabylon lives in now) from where Hurricane Opal came through but it hit my small town hard. I will never forget it. I can only imagine what Floridians and others in paths of hurricanes go through. Judgement should be reserved in these cases. It’s a personal choice which I think is what conservatives stand for.
Did I mention that my daughter in Florida is one half of my set of identical twins? What irony that she lives in Florida and was born on the peak day of Hurricane season...lol They will be 40 on Sunday. Since she is getting the hurricane, I sent her a nice edible arrangement...her sis in Alabama is getting 40 black crows on her yard with a big sign that says “Lordy, Lordy, M****** is 40!”....lol
Praying that no loss of life in Florida is found after the storm moves on...and it’s headed my way but should just mainly be rain...hope so!
