The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

There is one on the ground near Lauderdale Lakes.
We are getting a tornado warning across the south end every twenty minutes.
I doubt that Tampa will get “wiped out”.
Praying for Eric...so sad.
And I’m certain Atlanta won’t get “wiped out”. The hyperbole is starting to ramp up here. Tampa Bay could certainly see some significant damage and Atlanta may very well flood and have widespread power outages from downed trees but both will be okay long term. Key West...eh...that’s looking a little more troubling.
I have a similar radio I bought at Radio Shack 10 or so years ago, SW, AM, FM and Weather. It’s been a life saver. You can even charge your cell phone with the hand crank; if you have nothing else to do for a few hours.
Norcross says another tornando offshore from Ft Lauderdale will be rolling in going east to west.
I am guessing the bridge going out and down for a month or two wouldn’t be as bad as you might think. If Irma plays out like they say, won’t be much to return to for quite a while.

Remember Winter Storm Stella back in March 2017 - we got forecasts of 2 feet of snow, locusts etc. Well, it was a bust. But in a little-heard follow-up that would make Ms. Kosinski proud, federal forecasters knew it'd be a bust but they decided to continue forecasting deep snow, claiming that they didn’t change their forecast for fear people would mistakenly think the storm was no longer dangerous.
So, as I said previously, be it out of well-founded skepticism of the weather media and government, or trust in God, I will NOT second-guess the good people of Florida. Your are in the DoodleBob family's prayers.
Thank you!! I really get irritated at the over the top rhetoric. Tampa sits on the gulf and will flood, it’s not going to get wiped out. Jeesh people.
