9/11 Terrorists Overthrew Naive Notions of Proletarian Revolutionaries
The American Spectator ^ | September 8, 2017 | Daniel J. Flynn

In a different time and place they could have been Che Guevara or Danton.

The terrorists that killed 2,997 people 16 years ago Monday presented the 21st century with a radically different revolutionary than the ones that stormed our imaginations in the 19th and 20th centuries.

They didn’t overthrow the world order. They did overthrow our conception of where on the economic strata revolutionaries come from.

The 9/11 terrorists did not step out of the pages of Les Misérables. Like most revolutionaries, they stepped out of privileged places.

Osama bin Laden, the seventeenth child of a billionaire, appeared as the type of figure Karl Marx’s proletariat rebelled against. Bin Laden’s followers, if not hailing from the economic stratosphere, generally emerged from comfortable backgrounds.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed obtained a mechanical engineering degree in the United States, speaks four languages, and, as his name but perhaps not his John Belushi visage, indicates, he probably traces his line to nobility of sorts.

“Mohamed Atta was born on September 1, 1968, in Kafr el Sheikh, Egypt, to a middle-class family headed by his father, an attorney,” The 9/11 Commission Report informs. “After graduating from Cairo University with a degree in architectural engineering in 1990, Atta worked as an urban planner in Cairo for a couple of years.” He obtained another degree at Hamburg University of Technology, where he “came across as very intelligent and reasonably pleasant, with an excellent command of the German language.”

Islam was the trouble. Mix an idle life with it and get a bomb.

And — Antifa is a weak sister to Islam. She’s a drama queen, more bark than bite.

Islam’s Allah means business. Grim business.

I would urge folks to keep a sharp look out for suspicious activity on the 11th.

The islamic terrorist loves to strike on anniversaries of former terrorist attacks.

More correctly, it was radical fundamentalist Islamic zeal that was the root of the movement.

These well educated individuals saw that Islam was evolving away from Mohammed’s vision while accepting of things modern.

Zealots are always bad for society, even if Christian

Reminds me of another “leader” who was reported to be raised by a poor single mother when in reality he lead a privileged upbringing. Funny he looked to destroy the USA as well except he attempted to do it from the highest office in the land.

Also as an aside to the article, the finest minds I have ever known had no college indoctrination/education.

The very reason the progressives are pushing for “free” college is to try and catch the free thinkers that slip through with their reasoning and logic intact after 12 years of government indoctrination. They hope 4 more years will do the trick. He

#2: "Mix an idle life with it and get a bomb."

Good point. It applies to Antifa too. They are out for riots and violence. None of them seems to be employed or have any obligations, yet they have enough money to skip around the country inciting mayhem.

At president Trump's inaugural they were out in force. Luckily the police were too, and over 200 were arrested, some of them facing serious jail time [that inaugural seems like it was years ago].

Unchecked, it's only a matter of time before Antifa pull off some sort of serious destruction, although they appear too cowardly to engage in suicide attacks.

My office was next to the airport and I refused to come to the office the rest of that week.

Osama is probably having steak and lobster to celebrate.

And NO, I do not believe this fairytale about him being dead.
