Dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Irma had a devastating impact on islands in the Caribbean.
Hurricane and Storm surge watches were issued Thursday morning for South Florida. The Florida Keys began evacuating visitors and residents, followed by flood zones in Miami and Miami Beach. Sarasota FL declared a local state of emergency Thursday morning.
Polk County FL Sheriff Grady Judd said Wednesday that law enforcement authorities would check the identities of people who turn up at shelters--and take to jail anyone found to have an active arrest warrant. If you go to a shelter for Irma and you have a warrant, well gladly escort you to the safe and secure shelter called the Polk County Jail... If you have a warrant, turn yourself in to the jail its a secure shelter. Judd also posted that sex offenders and sex predators would not be admitted to the shelters. "We cannot and we will not have innocent children in a shelter with sexual offenders & predators. Period." Judd's statements unleashed a liberal firestorm via Twitter.

We are talking facts. Get lost. Seriously, go away, you are just stinking up this thread.
Yeah, Irma is a Cat 5 averaged sized hurricane, you dumbass.
Oh there were several news organizations saying it hit cuba...but not specific if it brushed the shore or went inland...and nothing visual at all. I suspect Cuba will present us with outdated photos inland in hopes of securing funds from their ‘friends’.
Yes.
I wonder how we were measuring wind speed in 1935...
About an hour ago, I hear Governor Scott on the Weather Channel. He said that there were still some people in the Keys who hadn’t evacuated yet. He was telling tem there there was still time to get out if they left now.
That’s gotta be one of the weirder things to see. The street lights are on but no one is out and about - not even first responders. Even Key West has gotta be dead quiet. No traffic on Highway 1. No pleasure boats out on the water.
If there’s anyone still in the Keys, I hope they’re wearing 5 life vests and have tied themselves to a tree about 20 feet off the ground.
Dirtboy...just posted two webcam links excellent visuals for tomorrow....24/7 coverage and great views....unlike others that fade in and out these are steady.
Live cam.....(North Bay Village Inlet) North Miami.....Night now so all the dark showing is water...tomorrow that will be very clear and good visual of land and water...

Live cam...North Miami...Viewpoint is from the 3rd floor of building, located near NE 135th Street and Biscayne Boulevard...stream will remain live until the storm passes or power is lost. Good visual because you see the street and the sky.....

Great question, I'll have to run that one down once this is all over.
wee were having a good time, then you came by clutching your pearls..relax dude...hurricanes happen.
Some that really surprised me was how strong the winds already were in South Beach 4 hours ago. It just gives an idea of how big the diameter of this hurricane really is. The blue shed guy did a report here:

Thanks, will keep an eye on those as things start going down.
Where’s everyone getting this sub-900mb pressure currently?
Charley was an inconvenience in Orlando. Busted windows, lost power for a few days, but certainly not evacuation type stuff.
Some folks waited quite awhile for new roofs. I, on the other hand, had the foresight to replace mine that spring prior to Charley and paid for it all out of pocket ;)
Wow. Please don’t try to explain Jose’s steering currents. Might explode my head. Can understand the pressure explanations.
Are you stupid or what? Having a good time, downplaying a major disaster? You have a sick sense of a good time. Get lost, you stupid gnat.
LOL I’ll say!...Jose has no idea what it’s going to do!
I read it’s in the wake of Irma creating a lot of that havoc...

Oh, come on, there’s no need to wait, you can do it now.
After all, you are so sure of yourself and everything...
(psst: nobody knows what Irma is really going to do)
People still occasionally driving down Duval St.

No one knows for sure, but a lot of dedicated people are doing their level best to try and forecast Irma for millions of people potentially in harms way. And have done a pretty good job so far from what I have seen. There is too much crossover of AGW criticism against hurricane forecasting. Dipsh**s on the left try to equate the two. Professional forecasters only try to figure out the next 120 hours.
