Dangerous Category 5 Hurricane Irma had a devastating impact on islands in the Caribbean.
Hurricane and Storm surge watches were issued Thursday morning for South Florida. The Florida Keys began evacuating visitors and residents, followed by flood zones in Miami and Miami Beach. Sarasota FL declared a local state of emergency Thursday morning.
Polk County FL Sheriff Grady Judd said Wednesday that law enforcement authorities would check the identities of people who turn up at shelters--and take to jail anyone found to have an active arrest warrant. If you go to a shelter for Irma and you have a warrant, well gladly escort you to the safe and secure shelter called the Polk County Jail... If you have a warrant, turn yourself in to the jail its a secure shelter. Judd also posted that sex offenders and sex predators would not be admitted to the shelters. "We cannot and we will not have innocent children in a shelter with sexual offenders & predators. Period." Judd's statements unleashed a liberal firestorm via Twitter.

I don't think this hurricane is going to go up the gut of FL and destroy the state. No hurricane has taken a hairpin turn like this. It's going to pass and clip the Southern part of FL, maybe go over Tampa Bay, and then threaten both South MS and AL, and possibly NOLA.
Nothing to do with boat lifts, but a woman interviewed today had a live map of all ships in the area, color coded for yachts, freighters, cruise ships, etc. They looked like a swarm of bugs all headed west.
If I heard correctly, a Holland America ship came into port (Miami or Port Everglades — not sure which), and passengers couldn’t fly out to get home. So they headed back out to sea with the same passengers, not sure where they were headed, or for how long. So they got an extended cruise, and were able to avoid the storm instead of trying to find shelter on land.
For the terry jeb haters, Jeb was governor of Florida and knows more about Florica hurricanes and governance than just about anybody
To be critical of Cavuto because of a Jeb/terry bias is ludicrous
Models show a hairpin turn NORTH and not into the gulf
Good news. Wonder about St Martin/Maarten folks.
Good post. Interesting.
If that monster doesn’t start turning north, it is aiming for Mexico. Maybe it’s so big that the normal wind patterns aren’t effecting it... making their models obsolete.
You’re back.
Had me worried for a while.
You weren’t paying attention. The point was that Jeb! conveniently refused to credit Trump for any of the successes of the current situation. Sheesh.
I’m certain Tippy-Toes is very aware of hurricanes in Florida; I never said he didn’t.
I haven’t seen anything on St.Martin but I imagine they’re getting people out as well and best they can.....are they in the path of Jose too?
thanks very much Alan.
Prayers up for those passengers ~ for a safe port.
I agree, looks like it will hug Cuba then slam over the keys and into the gulf.
“Tippy-Toes” !!! LOL
looks like this thing will go right to the wire to answer every question we have....
How about taking political discussions to another thread please...:)
Huh. You mean I was right?
Did you see the model showing it starting southwest of FL, turning east across the very south of FL, and then north over the ocean to around NJ? I think it was the path of Donna years ago, and Bastardi thinks it could mimic that.
