Trump’s Deal with Democrats Is a Warning to Republicans — Establishment and Conservative Alike

President Donald Trump reached a deal with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to raise the debt limit, fund Hurricane Harvey relief, and keep the government open until December.

The deal is a warning to Republicans — primarily to the party establishment, which has fought Trump at every turn, but also to conservative Republicans, who have long worried about Trump shifting leftwards.

It is no secret that Trump is frustrated with the party establishment, and particularly with congressional leaders, notably Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who failed to whip his caucus into delivering the votes to repeal and replace Obamacare.

By working with Democrats, Trump can bypass the Republican leadership, GOP moderates, and personal foes like Sens. John McCain (R-AZ). However, it also means that he can cobble deals together between liberal Republicans and the Democrat minority, leaving conservatives out in the cold.

The only way to stop him is for Republicans to unite. By showing he can deal with Pelosi and Schumer, Trump may have found the one way of making them do so.

McCain is a traitor to his Party and a traitor to his country with his self-serving vote on OBAMACARE.

I don’t care what his motives are and only care that he keeps us posted on his progress in battling brain death.

McCain is a stealth Democrat. Period.

It’s obvious that the anti Trump Republicans, including Ryan, and stealth Democrat McCain are doing everything in their power to stop Trump’s agenda.

So Trump works around them with Nancy and Chuck. HAAAA

Democrat Senator McCain and Democrat House Leader Paul Ryan are getting played at their own game. McCain and Ryan are anti-Trump. They are almost worse than some of the Dems. McCain literally bashes Trump 24/7 and has been shut out of the Whitehouse. McCain was a frequent Whitehouse visitor when 0 was in office. What does that tell you? McCain is more of a Dem then Pelosi and Schumer because he is in stealth mode and is a mole. Good for Trump.

McCain is jealous beyond words. ‘

President Trump won the Presidency.

Democrat Senator McCain LOST, and will NEVER be President.

McCain and Romney were such sore losers. Beyond the pale. At least Romney learned to stifle himself. But Romney was beyond the pale during the primary and general. Jealous to the point to trying to prevent him from wining, Romney. And jealous to the point of bashing President Trump 24/7 - Democrat McCain.

Pathetic. But Trump knows McCain and Ryan’s game. Both are pathetic. Ryan wants to run again, this time at the top of the ticket. Romney protege Ryan will never win. Such a pipe dream on his part. He’s just not likable.

>>Trump is forcing the GOPe to put up ...the GOPe was playing to Trump’s left ..so its was Dem far left.. GOP middle left.. Trump isolated on the right<<

It would help if you took a bit more time to make the post clear. I truly am interested in what you have to say but can’t make heads or tails of it.

So, bend over & take it Ryan & McConnell, because Trump just schlonged you!

I think that Pauline Ryan and Michelle McConnell may feel a little discomfort sitting for a few days. Maybe they'll listen next time the boss asks them to do something.

Yep - Ryan and McConnell would have made sure it got so tangled/bollixed up that Trump looked bad - he sidestepped them and sent a message that he’s 100% on to them.

Google is in Silicon Valley, and as a whole the place seems to have cherry picked up the very worst beliefs of the ideological Left and Right. I think they try at least, and they have come up with some good ideas (Google drive is awesome!) but they have taken over our public space and are not regulated. Its as though the government built a dam over a city, then turned it over to unaccountable people to do with as they will. People with the philosophy of “break things and move fast.”

Washington itself is a place where the goto strategy has become hostage holding. The GOP is tripping all over itself to take advantage of the victims of the hurricane, and the Democrats are tripping all over themselves to avoid anything that is not ideologically “pure.” Neither party realizes that the rest of the country consists of decent people who believe that terrible things can happen to anyone, and that the correct reaction is to help. We like a level playing field. We like tolerance. We don’t like far flung horrible people acting as judge, jury, executioner over thought crimes. We don’t like amoral opportunists who would sell their grandmother.

Trump understands that.

the GOPe did not want solutions, they wanted the problem.

They can’t claim this now. They might actually have to (GASP!) get work done?!!!

The filibuster rule may have to go by by.

How the hell can there be any work done in the District of Corruption. They only work around 147 days a year. The rest of the time we pay for is for them to run around collecting money. Useless turds is what we have.
