A major United States Holocaust Memorial Museum study of the Obama Administrations Syria policy was put on hold last night after portions of the study given to Tablet were greeted with shock and harsh criticism by prominent Jewish communal leaders and thinkers.
According to a publicity email sent by the Museum, the study was set to be launched at an event at the US Institute for Peace in Washington, D.C., on September 11 and was overseen by a former US intelligence and national security official under Obama, Cameron Hudson, now director of the Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide. The paper argued that a variety of factors, which were more or less fixed, made it very difficult from the beginning for the US government to take effective action to prevent atrocities in Syria, even compared with other challenging policy contexts. Using computational modeling and game theory methods, as well as interviews with experts and policymakers, the report asserted that greater support for the anti-Assad rebels and US strikes on the Assad regime after the August 2013 Ghouta chemical weapons attack would not have reduced atrocities in the country, and might conceivably have contributed to them.
The intervention of the Holocaust Museum in a hot-button political disputeand the apparent excuse of official US government inaction in the face of large-scale mass murder, complete with the gassing of civilians and government-run crematoriaalarmed many Jewish communal figures. The first thing I have to say is: Shame on the Holocaust Museum, said Leon Wieseltier, the literary critic and fellow at the Brookings Institution, who slammed the Museum for releasing an allegedly scientific study that justifies bystanderism.

Yes.
Obama was a primary architect of the Syrian insurgency
Yup, I thought of Ben Rhodes the instant I saw this headline. Of course he will try to pretend he has nothing to do with it.
Did the Holocaust Museum ever do a study on Sudan?
Seems like the genocide there just never caught anyone’s fancy.
INACTION?
He freakin started it you MORONS!!!!
I agree. Nice to see them re-evaluate their take of Obama’s actions.
Didn’t mean to imply I hadn’t caught this prior to my fist post. I had.
i am on Ben R’s case every single day - i think he is a traitor to Jews everywhere, so i am unrelenting. but i read that this was organized before he was even on the council. however there is another Obama player involved- one Cameron Hudson. now they may be bff’s, i know not. so i am waiting for more details on how this came down.
huh? ever heard of Darfur? many groups mobilized because of atrocities of Darfur.
i think i misinterpreted your post. actually USHMM has and does stay on top of events in the Sudan. sorry if i jumped the gun.
Ben Rhodes boasts about Obamas pardons it quickly backfires when this fact is pointed out

Between them - Obama, Bush, Jimmy Carter and Billy Clinton are probably responsible for more deaths than any other inviduals since Hitler.
Deaths caused due to their weakness and incompetence must be counted.

I have no idea. Am not familiar with their projects.

I thank you for replying but it was sort of a rhetorical question.
This is more involved than I thought it was when I posted it.
I appreciate comments that expanded the discussion.
There must have been copyright complaint from tablet. I knew nothing about the magazine. Did not look at the copyright list, but did a moment ago. It was not there.
I did excerpt it.
Either that or the author did not like my statement, which contained 2 short quotes and comment of a few words.
Admin fixed it as if it had been link only, for which I thank them.
Pursuit of the truth, is sometimes not well received. Even an honest effort.
Totally agree. Weakness breads war.
Corruption contributes too.

Author’s work.
I especially noted the one mentioning STRATFOR.
I’m not here to pick a fight with him or throw rocks at him. But I doubt we would have much in common.
Trump has distanced himself from the past 40 years of State Department perspective. In my opinion, it is time for that action. But there are those who have been in that part of Government (some call deep state) that would disagree.
And the report was anything but disinterested. The museums memorial council includes at least five former Obama National Security Council staffers, among them Ben Rhodes, arguably more responsible for the administrations Syria policy than anyone except the man he worked for.
The truth is Obama did not merely do nothing while Assad put the people of his country through a meat grinder and gassed children. He stepped aside out of respect for what he called Irans equities in Syria. Assad was Tehrans man, and Obama didnt want to interfere lest his coveted deal with Irans leaders come undone. Worse, as part of that deal, he approved filling the Iranian regimes war chest with billions of dollars in sanctions relief and repatriated funds that had been frozen in the United States ever since Ruhollah Khomeinis revolution. Its no exaggeration to say that the misbegotten Iran deal helped fund Assads murderous campaign.

i am glad the museum pulled this - heavyweights like Wieseltier and Foxman decried “study.” i think the study was commissioned before Rhodes joined council but other Obama-ites were behind it, i suspect. and it is hard to know where one of these types begins and the other leaves off. in any case the USHMM pulled it - if this museum is politicized like Anne Frank Center and ADL have been it would be a national disgrace. sickening to think about.
