President Trump called on Congress to legalize DACA late Tuesday, just hours after his administration announced the repeal of the amnesty for children brought to the country illegally promising that he will revisit this issue if Congress does not turn DACA into legislation.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the repeal of the Obama era executive order known as the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program both on constitutional grounds and also on principle.
The effect of this unilateral executive amnesty, among other things, contributed to a surge of unaccompanied minors on the southern border that yielded terrible humanitarian consequences, Sessions said. It also denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same jobs to go to illegal aliens.
The move saw significant opposition from Democrats and voices in the media, while even some Republicans who formerly opposed DACA called for Congress to act to resolve the issue with legislation.
The rollback includes a six-month delay so as to allow Congress to act if it so chose. The White House had expressed hope that the issue could be included as part of a broader immigration legislation package, with Trump tweeting that he hoped to work with Democrats and Republicans for a reform that puts hardworking citizens of our country 1st.
But by late Tuesday, Trump appeared to have turned into a paper tiger on the key campaign promise to get rid of DACA, saying he would revisit this issue if Congress did not legalize DACA.

That’s exactly how I saw it too. Trump is daring congress to pass DACA, which would then hurt Americans. He wants them to show where they really stand.
Couldn’t pass it before in a non-election season.
Must pass House and Senate.
Time will tell. I don’t expect it to pass.
Yup. The denials here are astounding.
If he “revisits” it, he shall henceforth be known as TRUMPBAMA.
(Somebody on here could probably make a neat Trump-Obama hybrid picture.)
My guess is Trump is putting the RINO’s nuts in a vice, making them show their cards right before the 2018 primaries (hence the 6 month “phase out). Ryan and his cabal of clowns are going to be screwed. Same with turtle boy, McTumor, et al.
Trump thinks strategically. He may not have political experience, but he knows how to deal with a-holes - and he never forgets. Trump values loyalty above all else. Even if you disagree with him on an issue, as long as you up up front with him, he’ll respect you; but if you’re a two-face back-stabbing a-hole, like are most of the twits in Congress, he’ll eventually bury you. Trump’s methods remind me of the Godfather movies.
I give Trump the respect of taking him for his words and actions on this. You can make up ulterior motives if you’d like, but there isn’t a basis for tying such imaginations to Trump.
People that keep talking about those two running everything sound like retards.
The one sentence summary.
The president says conflicting things but takes direct action - usually to please his base. But these people keep harping on his words when it is his actions that should be watched. But they are so married to their Ivanka/Jared conspiracy theory that they end up with egg on their face every other day.
Remember when they said Steve Bannon was going to destroy those two? Then it came out those emails were fake.
To the ignorant and dim-witted, I suppose.
I remember when Trump was making nice sounds about the Paris Accords and then stabbed Merkel in the back, lol! I think his ambiguous tweets and statements are ways of keeping the press off his back while he plots to destroy liberal entities.
And of course, you can and will believe whatever you prefer.
I note that immigration law is the domain of the House and Senate.Trump has rightly placed it back where it belongs. I applaud this choice.
They may or may not have enough votes to pass a bill. This is how our system works.
Trump has placed this in the middle of the primary voting season. It will be an issue. You have a right to vote (or not to vote) for candidates who hold your position. This is how our system works.
Trump may or may not sign it. This is how our system works.
Trump may be overridden, if he vetoes the bill. This is how our system works.
In any case, at this moment, Trump took actions that are in line with the Constitutional dividing of powers, ended Obama's overreach, and prevented any new applicants.
Now, you can go to the polls, if you vote. We'll see what happens.
I personally like the strategery.
Trump also tweeted this. These two posts are back-to-back.

I look forward to working w/ D’s + R’s in Congress to address immigration reform in a way that puts hardworking citizens of our country 1st.”

The subject of this thread is obsessed over by Never Trumpers and this one gets totally ignored.
He can sign a bill or veto it. If he vetoes it, he may get overridden. This is how our system works.
“I think his ambiguous tweets and statements are ways of keeping the press off his back while he plots to destroy liberal entities.”
I concur 99%. Add in the defiant GOPe to that mix & I concur 100% :)
He obviously hates Paul Ryan (like I do). I wonder if Ryan is going “humina...humina...humina...” today when he was planning to loaf during the 12 days of September.
They ignore anything positive. They disappeared during Harvey because the president was doing well.
Yeah, you win the psycho analysis award for the panic-stricken, poltroons, members of Cong. :-)
My comment, as was Alberta’s I believe, was addressing the “guns and pitchforks” response of all the “Oh noes, Trump doesn’t care” and “that’s it, the country is done” crowd. Congress has proven itself to be feckless. But lets all scream and yell at Trump....sheesh.
Focus on screaming at Congress. That is where the swamp is.
I wont ever give up personally, till my dying breath. And all the glass half empty whining is just getting to be annoying. I have said it often. This is going to be a long slog, and you better man up for it.
