It seems many here believe this is all good and is part of Art of the Deal.
Okay..so what’s the deal? Well......
Cave on dreamers and maybe we will give you enhanced border security..note Cornyn didn’t say wall.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the president would look to Congress to pass a “responsible immigration reform package” with money to control the border with Mexico and better protect American workers’ jobs along with protecting the so-called “dreamers” covered by DACA.
“Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, R-Texas, the No. 2 Senate Republican, said if Trump truly wants a comprehensive immigration reform package, including a solution for the 11 million immigrants in the country illegally, he’s certain to be disappointed. Congress tried that and failed in 2013, and GOP leaders immediately ruled it out Tuesday.
“Guaranteed failure,” Cornyn said.
If the goal is a more incremental package that combines a solution for the “dreamers” with steps such as visa reforms and enhanced border security, “there may be a deal to be had,” Cornyn said.
This hasn't stopped Republicans from supporting amnesty packages even worse than DACA before. "Immigration reform" (=amnesty) seems to be one of those issues where the two wings of uniparty put their superficial differences aside and walk hand in hand.
Congress will pass an even more permissive version of DACA within a few months. The only question is whether Trump will stay true to the people who elected him and veto it. Judging by his rhetoric here, the answer seems to be "no."
Why speculate, read the WH statement;
Yes, to me this sounds like Trump’s massive betrayal of his base. Disgusting, this rewarding of lawlessness.
OK -- then can you please define "covfefe" for me? :-P
And was unnecessary. Trump does not have to motovate the GOP to do nothing by this doing this tweet, as u seem to believe was his motivation.
Actually, he may have felt that he DID have to do that. Within hours of Sessions' announcement, there was a story running around in the media about a group of RINOs and Democrats who were trying to resurrect a bill that had been languishing in committee to legalize these so-called "Dreamers" RIGHT NOW.
That's the one scenario that could throw the whole thing into disarray. Some Republicans who wouldn't want to vote for any such bill in 2018 might be bold enough to try it now and hope it all blows over by next year.
Read the link in 163. Don’t speculate using an inaccurate FR post headline.
Wrong. Read 163.
Statement from Roy Blunt, my Senator: "The young people in the DACA program need a permanent, commonsense solution that will allow them to continue working and going to school in the only country that many of them have ever known. The manner in which this program was created has left DACA recipients in legal limbo for too long, and Congress now has a responsibility to work toward a legislative solution. At the same time, it is imperative that we continue working with the president to strengthen our border security. Enhancing our border security will help facilitate progress toward addressing all aspects of our broken immigration system.
Still think the Senate is going to ship them back?
Excellent post.
Read 163. So much needless and baseless speculation going on.
Read this too;

That's very interesting. I don't think President Trump is trying to have it both ways at all, as the Daily Mail article claims. I think the ultimate resolution to the DACA/"Dreamer" issue could include the following:
1. Anyone who doesn't register for the temporary protection under DACA by March 5th next year is subject to deportation at any time, and is permanently ineligible (for all intents and purposes) to immigrate legally.
2. Anyone who IS registered by March 5th will be eligible for a green card, but only after returning to their country of citizenship first and going through the normal channels.
Keep in mind that those in Group #2 will not necessarily be able to "jump to the front of the line" in the immigration process, but they will have a big advantage over other prospective immigrants because they will already have employers in the U.S. who might be willing to sponsor them.
It's not up to the Senate to ship them back.
I'm counting on the U.S. Senate to do absolutely NOTHING.
All it is going to take is a handful of the safest, most RINO GOP senators to vote along with the Dems on this.
It is a done deal.
Trump has handed over amnesty—and even now demands it!
He has outdone Obama and is, in this issue, undermining our country for the sake of wanting to be loved by his daughter, who wants to be loved by her fellow Manhattan airhead Democrats.
Sorry. I still don’t know what “covfefe” means. LOL.
Don’t know what “re-visit” means either.
Only that it seemed to muck up a great policy decision
by Trump.
And to some degree has taken away attention from a
great policy decision.
Only on FreeRepublic does a Twitter message carry the same weight as a formal policy decision. LOL.
As I said on a prior post, the messaging in the tweet is atrocious. I’ll ask it again, WTF does “I will revisit this issue! mean? He should have said, “It is now time for Congress to act!”
