The governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands has ordered the territory's national guard to begin seizing guns and ammunition from citizens in preparation for Hurricane Irma's landfall.
In an executive order signed Monday, Gov. Kenneth Mapp instructed Adjutant General Deborah Howell "to take whatever actions she considers necessary to carry out the assigned mission" of maintaining and restoring public order.
"The Adjutant General is authorized and directed to seize arms, ammunition, explosives, incendiary material and any other property that may be required by the military forces for the performance of this emergency mission," the governor said in the order.
The order went into effect Tuesday at 12:01 a.m.

My question too.
Shoot *ANYONE* who shows up to confiscate your weapons.
Wonder if this covers contraband on other islands in the chain.
Perhaps, someone can ring the alarm bells over at Little St. James Island.
Well I guess now people living in US Overseas Territories have their SCOTUS test case.
You forgot Methodists.
And the Irish! We don’t want the Irish!
This governor violated his oath of the Constitution and should be immediately removed from office.

That should work out well when only the looters have guns. This is from the Washington Post about Hurricane Hugo in 1989 so it’s probably not even describing the worst of it.
Then there’s the fact you’re dedicating law enforcement to taking guns from people instead of evacuating them or prepping to actually protect them.
"take whatever actions she are considered necessary to carry out the assigned mission"
Eff the State!
to begin seizing guns and ammunition from citizens

How do they know the citizen has a gun, or ammunition?
I assume my taxes are still going to this tropical paradise of morons. Shut them off.
form 4473.
Nope. Not happening. That is not a lawful order when the Adjutant General orders law enforcement to violate the Bill of Rights. It is not a lawful order when government personnel attempt to violate my individual, God-given human right to defend myself. I hope this costs everyone involved their jobs plus a whole lot more in personal liability.
Someone needs to file an emergency action in federal court for a restraining order.
This is why you separate your caches and keep a throwaway cache of junk to dutifully hand over.
Wrong response to tyranny.
A demand by a government agent that you turn over your lawfully possessed weapons, is an act of war against the citizens, and should be met with forceful resistance.
That is the entire purpose of the 2nd Amendment.
And then what? You think they'll just go on their merry way without turning your house inside out to find the rest?
Remember the essential purpose of the 2nd Amendment.
4473 for ammo?
