Americans work harder than any other country’s citizens: study

Start up the grill. Get the burgers and chicken going. And start imbibing. You deserve it, according to a new work study.

“We’re hard workers. We deserve the day off,” says Liz Bagot, a spokeswoman for NationalToday.com, which conducted the survey of 2,000 Americans.

It turns out the average American works harder than our Japanese counterparts or the average European worker.

“Statistics show that Americans work longer hours than the majority of other countries — 137 hours per year more than Japanese, 260 per year more than in the UK,” according to the study.

By the way, when the comparison is made between the average French worker and the average American worker, we’re talking vive la différence. The American worker records about 500 more working hours per year than his or her French counterpart.

“It’s the reason we can say ‘Thank God it’s Friday.’ Labor Day is a time to celebrate the benefits we enjoy at our jobs — including weekends off,” Bagot adds....

If you have a marketable skill that commands more than $50K per year, there are forces behind the scenes scrambling furiously to either 1) bring foreigners here to do it for less, or 2) find a way to send the work overseas.

THAT is why this economy is in the tank, and I don’t know how it can be fixed unless India and Red China have a long, destructive war. “Globalization” has resulted in economic insecurity in this country that is preventing many people from buying homes, starting families, etc.

What’s wonderful about being an American?

Being able to turn on a tap and get running water. Flipping a switch and the lights coming on.

Sure a lot of countries will tell you they have those things, but when it comes down to it, they have them only sometimes.

And until you have lived in the land of "sometime" you can not appreciate living in the land of "Always".

And it is everywhere. Not just in the big cities. Everywhere in the US barring natural disaster, flip a switch, turn a knob and there you go.

And there are many things like that in the US. They are just "there". No worries if the store will have milk, it will be there. No worries about if you can buy a notebook, they will be there. Effortless and inexpensive.

You take it all for granted until you have lived in the land of "none today, maybe next week."

All made possible by our fellow hard working Americans.

Maybe in other parts of the country, but here in the NYC metro area any new home would be competing with several other homes for sale on the same street. The only reason you don’t see block after block of empty homes is the government’s policy of importing Third Worlders to keep the lights on (and schools open). New constructions seem to be limited to multi-unit hives for childless drones - but we’ve built “bark parks” for their pets.
