exas Sen. Ted Cruz said President Donald Trump "speaks in ways that I wouldn't" on North Korea but that it helps to "have a president who is strong."
The Republican senator told ABC News "This Week" co-anchor Martha Raddatz that if North Korea's claim that it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb Sunday is true, it is "a serious escalation in their ability to commit mass acts of murder" that will spur calls for "further serious steps to prevent North Korea from using those weapons."
"North Korea right now, its the most dangerous place on the face of the planet," Cruz said on "This Week" Sunday. "Kim Jong Un, whos the dictator there, he is radical, he is unpredictable, he is extreme, and hes getting more and more dangerous weapons."
Raddatz asked Cruz about Trump's prior warning that the United States would respond with "fire and fury" to any further provocations from North Korea.
"Do you think [the president's threat] hurt or helped?" she asked.
"The president speaks in ways that I wouldn't speak, but that is his prerogative," the Texas senator said. "I do think it helps for North Korea and for China to understand that we have a president who is strong."
"I think the president is right that Kim Jong Un and other bullies only understand and respect strength, that weakness, that appeasement, encourages this action," Cruz said.
He added, "In term of what happens, listen, no rational person wants to see a military conflict with North Korea, with the nuclear weapons ... [In] almost any scenario, you're looking at tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of casualties in a matter of days.'

Ted would have invited them to come to Ottawa for a chat.
“The president speaks in ways that I wouldn’t speak, but that is his prerogative,” the Texas senator said. “I do think it helps for North Korea and for China to understand that we have a president who is strong.”
Ted, my boy, I have liked you but what you have said is why I am so grateful the sheeple had enough sense not to elect you President.
You can’t have this both ways. There is no successful middle ground on this.
What still amazes me is that Cruz had a CLEAN SHOT to the White House (other than the natural-born issue that could have bitten him), and all he had to do was show some degree of support for Trump, after Trump had defeated him.
But, I guess, that was asking too much for him. And so I will vote against him in the Primary and may well vote against him in the General Election too (assuming he even makes it that far).
We have plenty of Goldman Sachs people in the present administration.
So far none of the speech has done much good. North Korea is about to produce a hydrogen bomb on an ICBM. It’s time to quit talking and take the little fat boy out.
Reply to Cruz: pwokpokpokpokpokpokpwaaaack!pakpakpwockpocpokpokpokpokpokpokpokpokpokpwoooooooaaawwwwk!
Chicken.
Well, Ted, BULLETIN. Trump speaking like Trump speaks has got us where we haven’t been in decades - Russia and china have just come around - SIX PARTY TALKS toward DENUCLEARIZATION.
really, Ted, you should just keep quiet.
I read it like you did. I don’t think some people read past that sentence.
Which is why he is POTUS and you are not, Thad.
“Hillary would have given Kim a reset button, but the word would have been misspelled, and would have actually translated to nuke us.
Scary, and thank God that we escaped that scene.
Thanks!
Thank you.
the Ted hate is utterly baffling. It’s not like he killed the repeal of ACA. that would be the pompous little dude with the $6 haircut.
>> “The president speaks in ways that I wouldn’t speak, but that is his prerogative,” the Texas senator said.
Pointless pretense for the narcissistic psychopaths.
Stereo President Trump would make Hill’s head do the bobble!
A lot of the ill feelings toward Cruz stem back to the time he blamed Trump for inciting violence that was actually paid for by Soros. That move served as a window into Cruz ‘ MO: wait till the MSM/Dems are in blood-in-the-water circling-shark mode, and then pile on. It’s not something people just forget.
Nuclear War sooner rather than later.
I ain’t kissing no Communist Chinese general’s behind.
Always remember the Democrats nuclear armed our enemies; North Korea, China and Iran.
Remember also, Conservatives are dispersed in the USA.
Collectivist Democrats are a concentrated coastal target.
Survive a limited war and inherit a more Conservative country.
Now that the simpletons here have expelled a lot of BS hot air attacking Cruz for an honest statement in no way attacking President Trump who’s scalp is next?
“... the ill feelings toward Cruz stem back to the time he ...”

He has given a lot of people a lot of different reasons.
For me, it was the Republican Convention.
