Defense secretary James Mattis has spoken outside the White House. “We are not looking for the annihilation of North Korea, we have many options,” he says.

He also said that “any threat to the United States or its territories including Guam or our allies will be met with a massive military response.”

".we move on him he takes out Seoul before we can subdue them."

With what? With strategic EMP strikes, the guidance systems will be toast. The Nork retaliatory forces will not even know what time it is. Of course, we will know where they are with pinpoint accuracy. Every device they want to use to hit Seoul will be destroyed as useless pieces of junk.

We can attack and not occupy. We need to take out the weapon sites and development locations and try to kill the megalomaniac. If they want to surrender let SK take over. but we should wipe out this guy and this weapons and get the f—k out of dodge.

In my opinion, the fact that there is a debate about what he meant is probably good. It means that it was obtuse enough that the North Koreans, including the fat child Kim, will also be unclear about what we plan to do. Uncertainty often brings hesitation and rethinking.

No, we should demand that any ally with nukes should turn them over to the US. Remove any risk on them ever being turned on us. Reverse proliferation as much as possible so that we hold the cards to our nation’s survival and any country with nukes is clearly not our friend. Time to cut them off economically, all of them. We need to reassert ourselves, not delute our power.

if you can’t get a declaration of war then your case is weak

China needs its exports to the U.S. far more than the U.S. needs exports to China.

I concur. The Communist Chinese super freighter container ships are lined up bumper to bumper across the Pacific going into Long Beach, San Francisco, etc..

Cut them off. Drop the NK mess in China's lap.

Like I said, we are already in a state of war and the previous authorizations for military action in Korea are still valid, as far as I know, today. Trump does not need further permission or authorization to act.

Receding and demurring is the best policy for now and might eventually entice Fat Boy’s people into helping us solve several problems at once. Imagine an America with no commies, political correctness, NIMBYs, anti-family freaks, HOAs, anti-defense crooks or regulators. As for defense and solving the problem of foreign enemies, we Americans in rural areas would do just fine at supporting our then-mobilized military forces.

“That sounds weak I’m sorry to say.”

Yeah, because last time I heard “massive military response” I was thinking someone was just going to get a time out in the corner.

Even if the Norks have been sealed off from the rest of the world, they have stockpiled resources already. This will buy them time to have their nuclear arsenal in place. The Pig will opt for the “Suicide Option.” Then we will hope to God that we can knock down the massive launch of nukes going to Japan, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. It only takes a few to get through. This messing with trade embargoes works only for nations with no teeth.

A trade embargo also hurts China, a nation that we have a huge $1.102 trillion debt. With that much leverage, China could thumb its nose at any trade embargo and that would give the Norks the ability to do what they want. A military strike would cut out the tumor fast with little effect on China. The tumor is the Pig.

Painting the red line wider. We should have taken out the last ICBM the moment it lit up on the launch pad. The next time, if we fail to do so, we’ll be seen as a paper tiger.

Do you honestly believe that Lil Kim is really running the show? I don’t think he has the brains. Betting there is a core group of military officers calling the shots.

As you well know, it never did. Since World War II Congress has been happy to authorize action, stand aside, rather than embrace a declaration of war. Heck, even when attacked in 2001, they wouldn’t. Granted, there is a bit of disagreement over our enemy but imagine if we had discussed a declaration of war against Saudi Arabia, bet they would have been more forthcoming then and since in stopping the nation’s and their nation’s citizens from funding and waging war against us.

We don’t want to go to war
But if by jingo we do
We have the ships
We have the men
We have the money too

or something like that.

And that kind of preparedness was soon to be called “jingoism” even though it never purposed to pick any fight.
