(SALT LAKE CITY) A Utah police officer's body camera video shows a hospital nurse being handcuffed after refusing to draw blood on an unconscious patient.
The video taken at University Hospital in Salt Lake City shows nurse Alex Wubbels calmly explaining to Salt Lake detective Jeff Payne that she couldn't draw blood on a patient who had been injured in a car accident. She told the officer a patient was required to give consent for a blood sample or be under arrest. Otherwise, she said police needed a warrant.
The dispute ended with Payne telling the nurse she was under arrest and physically moving her out of the hospital while she screamed.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports Wubbels was not charged. Police have started an internal investigation, but Payne remains on duty.

She was not charged with anything. LEOs finally came to their senses in the parking lot after lecturing her for 20 minutes in a cop car, in the heat.
Indeed. One would think they'd have found the vid to be troubling before it went viral on the internet. It would appear that bad publicity is a sharp too to focus the minds of officials. I am not sure of the circumstances of the release of the bodycam vid. i.e., was it leaked? Was it released in response to a specific inquiry? (Perhaps from the hospital or their lawyers?
The nurse’s attorney released it when the nurse and her attorney felt nothing was being done by the police department regarding her treatment by the officers.
thanx
Agreed.
Re: 5. Not all military gear is combat type gear, of course, but giving cops combat gear is a bad idea. If THAT’s needed, bring in the National Guard temporarily in the numbers needed.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease!
