Black women in San Francisco are disproportionately arrested compared with their white counterparts, according to a new analysis of state arrest data from the Center on Criminal and Juvenile Justice.
Black women represent 5.8% of the citys female population, but accounted for 45.5% of all female arrests in 2013, according to the report from the nonprofit, which works to reduce incarceration. For arrests related to weapons and narcoticsboth feloniesblack women made up 77% and 68% of all female arrests, respectively.
Black women were arrested "at a per capita rate 13.4 times higher than women of other races," says the report. San Franciscos overall black population declined from 60,515 in 2000 to 48,870 in 2010.
Here's the chart:
These shocking statistics come on the heels of a report released last Wednesday outlining what its authors call the dangerous criminalization of black women. In a year filled with countless protests, relentless media coverage, robust political and community organizing efforts aimed at addressing the over-policing and police-involved deaths of young black men, comparatively little has been said about the criminalization and vulnerability of black girls and women.
Last Wednesday, a vigil was held in New York Citys Union Square to honor black girls and women killed by police. The next day, San, Franciscos busiest streets were shut down by topless black protesters demanding theyand all womenbe seen.
Just because you get arrested in SF does not mean you live there.
A lot of people commuted a long way in to SF.
My brother-in-law did a 2 hour commute to SF for a couple of years.
The solution is obvious.
White women need to start engaging in more criminal enterprises and end this race crime gap.
Failure to do so is evidence of racism on their part!
:-)
What’s shocking about it?
Nope, they’re taking the bridge from Oakland.
“..the next day, San, Franciscos busiest streets were shut down by topless...protesters...”
Were they arrested for indecent exposure?
Or was law enforcement intimidated by the incomplete and slanted graph above which purposely fails to show any statistic to indicate actual crimes committed in comparison, revealing no research into the likelihood that the arrest statistics were possibly warranted for 13X more crimes committed?
Should the authors of the article be arrested for inciting criminals to increase the statistic from 13X to 15X more arrests when they are encouraged to feel justified in their crimes and thus emboldened to then strike out at the establishment of law and order?
I remind everyone reading that facts are racist...
Close examination of murder statistics bears that out.
Have ya seen the YouTube videos????? I’m surprised the gap isn’t wider,
So when is a public figure going to be honest enough to publicly ask the question as to whether or not black women are f’ing up at a higher rate than white women?
During the last eight years, every single time, without fail, when I read something that said “Obama tyranny” my mind would instantly and without hesitation transpose “Obama tranny”, and I would snicker.
My wife would eyeball me and say “What are you laughing at?”
Ain’t no thang
“...from the Center on Criminal and Juvenile Justice.”
Stopped reading right there.
exactly...approximately 13 times more....lol
The question that the media will never ask!
Cause the act like barbarians
Because they commit 99 times more crime that White women.
Great! Now you have my husband eye rolling me. Thanks a lot!
:)
Bcuz they be out of McRib samichs and i want un.. dey raciss!
>>Why? Do they not break the law more?
How dare you even think such an obvious thing! Shame on you. /s
“criminalization of black women”
whats next, the criminalization of elderly Asian women?
The image the author has; is of law abiding individuals innocently walking down the street, only to be targeted by some secretive masked squad of criminalizers, who force them into committing crimes against their will just so they can be arrested.
