Trump breaks with previous presidents in response to natural disasters

Every president, going back to George H. W. Bush, has had to handle a natural disaster during his term.

For the aforementioned Bush, it was Hurricane Andrew. For his son, President George W. Bush, it was Hurricane Katrina. Bill Clinton faced the devastation of deadly tornadoes in Oklahoma, and Barack Obama experienced Superstorm Sandy.

One thing all these leaders had in common was their response to the victims — from reassuring messages of hope to comforting hugs.

Focus on the victims of Hurricane Harvey, according to the Washington Post, was missing from President Donald Trump’s visit to Texas on Tuesday.

Let this writer go and hug people.

So dumb. These leftists live in a world of virtual signaling and bullsh*t. Speech codes, and facades.

POTUS responded to this disaster in record time. Went to visit, gave a pick me up supportive speech then got the hell out of the way.
It’s too many distractions having him around while the hurricane was still off shore.

I’m sure he’ll go again once things are more settled and logistically will not be an issue.

If he hugged a woman, he would have been accused of something sexual. If he hugged men, they would accuse him of being a closet gay. These are horrible people at the Urinal and Constipation.

Anyone with a memory can recall how the media savaged GWB after Katrina for political purposes......I truly believe we see are seeing the difference between a Dimocrat Governor and Republican governor. Blanco recieved 34 calls from Harry Reid to deny any help Bush offered by not giving Bush any idea what FEMA was to bring (required). Abbot told FEMA what was needed, called on the USCG and TNG and all went quite well, considering the horrendous circumstances. Nagin went AWOL.

This is bad for Trump. Everyone agrees that he didn’t show any empathy for the flood victims. That he didn’t care about the flood victims. Well, everybody that is EXCEPT for the flood victims! Even the reporter on MSNBC had to admit that the President was given a hero’s welcome and people love him!!!

I really loathe presidential hugs. Did Ike hug? Kennedy? LBJ? Nixon??

Me too!!! He's the President NOT your daddy! (Not talking to you Ivanka)

I loathe hugging PERIOD — except very close friends and family, and then only if I have not seen them for a very long time. How did this loathsome habit of hugging the most casual of acquaintances start anyway? For that matter, how did this practice of calling everyone by the first name start? A little formality and respect is not a bad thing!

The Atlanta Urinal-Constipation doesn’t understand (or else does, and doesn’t want US to understand) that it isn’t style that matters, but substance. All the hugs and empathy in the world don’t deliver any food, water, medical supplies, clothes, beds, materials for cleaning up, temporary housing, etc., etc. For those things, I’d MUCH rather have a hard-bitten businessman who knows how to get $hit done - because that’s what he’s been doing for nearly the last 50 years.

Really? You guys at the WP are that desperate?

Indeed they are. At this point the best they can hope for is to keep the true believers riled up and onboard. They’re fighting a rearguard action.

I’ve been involved in a few things that could be considered crises, or that could have gone life threatening very quickly.

Like most real men, I have the ability to quickly switch gears and get very focused on the problem. I have no feelings, I am only capable of the action required to help, protect, save , rescue etc.

That’s what real men do. Pajama boys go cry and have their completely ineffectual feelings.

It’s best they get out of the way and let the men do their thing.

Let me see, if you are a victim of flooding, do you need a hug by the President, or do you need what the federal government can do to help?

Empathy is what the MEDIA is looking for because THEY and how they operate are 100% about feelings, perceptions, appearances of feelings and not facts.
