An assistant professor at the University of Iowa who pledged to expose her students to their own white ignorance in a peer-reviewed academic journal was stunned and appalled that she was, well, criticized for it.
Jodi Linley, a white education instructor, wrote that her goal was to make her mostly white graduate students keenly aware of their white privilege and use her classroom to deconstruct whiteness. If she did otherwise, she explained, it would make her complicit in perpetrating white supremacy.
For white students, she wrote, talking about race with an all-white group of peers [reveals] their own white ignorance.
Linley said her commitment to designing classes that fight white privilege began as soon as she became a professor in 2014, at which point she resolved to develop courses that both unveiled and rejected the notion that neutrality and objectivity are realistic and attainable.
As a white assistant professor of mostly white graduate students who will become higher education leaders, I work to dismantle whiteness in my curriculum, assignments and pedagogy, Linley explained, noting that in addition to her white identity, she also draws on her identities as a queer, able-bodied, cisgender woman with a working-class background to construct her teaching paradigm.

This fits perfectly with one of my upcoming editorials, “White is the New Black”.
I remember trying to talk to a friend about race issues. All I got in return was, “It’s a black thing, you wouldn’t understand.”
Remember that dismissive statement that made the rounds?
Say it ain’t so Laz. Where will we see it? NYT? LOL! Just wait until we actually are the minority. And folks wonder why they want to disarm us.
Yup. There is absolutely ZERO reasoning. Kind of like the “both sides” comment. They will NEVER see it that way and merely claim self defense. Saw a sign that basically said white silence is racis’. In other words, you better agree with us and speak up or else................ Used to call that bullying as I recall.
The melanin level of whitey's skin is only one of the things wants to "shame."

This “white shaming” could have been mathematically graphed out on a chart thirty years ago. And the graph line doesn’t end with just “white shaming.”
One more reason to have your kids go to community college or trade school. I feel sad when I think of something like this because I enjoyed studying History and other things that trade schools or community colleges do not necessarily cover in a practical education.
I wonder if there is a point that whites, in general, will acknowledge that they are being attacked for their race and that you can’t defend yourself without racially defending yourself?
I got it. Let us make all white people only have 3/5 of a vote.
What utter horseshit.
If whites weren’t working and paying taxes and fighting wars and building housing (along with whatever other racial components who are doing the same) everybody would be a helluva lot worse off.
ewww
Obama’s Red Guards have infiltrated our college campuses. Next there will be calls for white people to give up theit successful businesses, their accumulated wealth, their property all in the name of social justice.
What Jodi fails to understand is when the War on Whites, which she is inciting, begins, she will be one of the first casualties.
I remember when colleges used to be places that taught you useful things like math and economics to make it possible to get employment upon graduation.
2019...the start of the WHITE Civil Rights Movement (WCRM).
Hmmm. Not so sure on you local community college any more either. When DJT was in Reno on Wed., one of the local stations brought in a poly sci prof from Truckee Meadows Community College as a commentator. He may as well have been a ‘tater. Instantly went to the C’ville incident when DJT said we “ALL” need to work together. Basically ignored anything else that was said. The two local news assclowns weren’t much better.
