Is a Mark Green Senate Primary Challenge to Bob Corker Back on the Table?

Senator Bob Corker was greeted Friday morning with another withering rebuke by President Trump, in response to a series of criticisms hailed at the President over the past ten days, for which Corker – who is up for re-election by Trump-friendly Tennesseans next year – staunchly “stands by.”

Meanwhile, State Senator Mark Green’s (R-Clarksville) refusal to rule out a run against the struggling incumbent could signal re-consideration to challenge to Corker in the 2018 Republican primary.

“I’ve already told Senator Corker my thoughts about his comments about the President and that’s as far as I intend to go at this point,” Green told Breitbart News Friday afternoon.

Earlier this year State Senator Green was eyeing a run to replace the termed-out Governor Bill Haslam when the Trump Administration nominated him for Secretary of the Army. The move was met with the broad support of the Senate and wildly popular Secretary of Defense, James Mattis.

JUST WHO IS THIS GUY? Remember the Buckley rule. When somebody big enough announces we should ALL wait 24 hours and put in our $35 online. ‘Employer’ should be put down as Free Republic.

Sarah endorsed Tark in Nevada. Should we all donate $10 just to see how many of us there are? We are not all online at the same time. Perhaps the mods can share the busy times with us.

It’s fish or cut bait time for Trump. These Senators can’t be Twitter shamed into action. The President is going to have to risk much and: 1) go all in on primary challengers including having rallies in each state; and 2) make sure to follow up that support in the general election.

He might lose one or two but if he wins just one it sends a message. He would put the horse head in the bed.

Mark Green has been mentioned. Rep. Marsha Blackburn is another, and she commissioned the poll to see how weak Corker’s support is (and that was before Corker shot off his mouth since Charlottesville). She tied him in the poll taken last month. However, she’s made no move to jump in.

Another name just mentioned the other day, former U.S. Rep Zach Wamp. I’m not crazy about Wamp because I think he’s an opportunist. I’d rather have State Sen. Green.

Flake, Heller and Corker are the three scalps we MUST HAVE this year.

Chop those three heads and the rest of the Republican Senate will get with the program.

You can take that to the bank.

Speaking of banks...the biggest obstacle to taking these guys out once one of many qualified persons is found, is m o n e y.

Contribute MONEY to their opponent, because the corporate fund (Senate Leadership Fund, connected to Crossroads) is prepared to spend up to $50mil on behalf of each of those three scumbags.

Any money the Republicans Senate leadership has access to or influence over will work on their behalf. As well as potentially thousands of stupid Republican robots at the Country Club.

There is only ONE message, and that is MONEY.

No other message is heard.

actually looking it up I find Lamar! got 49.65% and Joe Carr got 40.61% in 2014

331,705 to 271,324 there were 5 other candidates...

Joe Carr gave Lamar! a run for his money...I think he got closer than anyone else ever...

No. Mae Beavers is, who has my endorsement. Diane Black is running, too, but Beavers is better and more Conservative and tuned in to what’s happening here in Nashville at the state level (Black has been away from it for 8 years).

Joe Carr is looked on as a perennial candidate now. He was seriously damaged making an ill-advised attempt to run against Diane Black last year. Had he not challenged her, he might’ve been able to waltz into the seat now that it’s open, but Conservatives are backing State Rep. Judd Matheny for Black’s seat.

Beavers is arguably the most Conservative member of the State Senate. She pisses off all the right people, namely the media and the Haslamite-Corker-Alexander RINO party establishment.

Haslam, of course, is backing far-left La Raza Randy Boyd to succeed him. Curiously, Karl “Marx” Dean, who is the probably Democrat nominee for Governor (and our ex-Mayor here in Nashville) is absolutely praying for Boyd to be the GOP nominee, since he knows Conservatives will not vote for Boyd in the general and hopes they’ll vote for him in protest. If Boyd steals the nomination, there should be a 3rd party Conservative candidate for Governor.

Come on people. Settle on ONE. Don’t divy up the conservative primary vote.

She can’t make up her mind, but aside from commissioning that poll the other month, that’s the only thing to indicate any interest in the race.

IMHO either Green or Blackburn would be fine to cork Corker, but not both. If they both run against him, they’ll split the patriot vote and let him win.

He certainly gets around. I remember him moderating “Firing Line” on occasion, losing the NYC mayoral race to Bloomie, ... /s

Quite so. Corker is probably hoping for a split in the vote to help him that way. It’s how he won in 2006. No runoffs and no closed primary, so Dems can flood in and pick their favorite left-leaning RINO since the Dems have no power statewide anymore.
