Luther Strange could have been campaigning for U.S. Senate as Big Luther Strange, Champion of the People.
Instead, Big Luther has shrunk into a weird hybrid Washington Swamp/Trump mini-me candidate, scrambling to keep his political career afloat.
Going into the U.S. Senate GOP primary runoff, one poll shows Roy Moore with a substantial lead over Strange.
Another poll - a poll bought and paid for by Mitch McConnell's Senate Leadership Fund, a group that's already invested $8 million into the Strange primary campaign - says the race between Moore and Strange is a dead heat.
Big Luther's poll numbers are kinda like the man himself. Both can be pulled back and forth like taffy, depending on the money. And stuff.
Truth is - we all know the story - had he done the right thing, had he done his job as Alabama's attorney general instead of snatching a coveted senate appointment from the sleazy governor he was investigating, Big Luther could have marched into the U.S. Senate as a champion. In a landslide.

Not often I agree with AL.com but I do this time.
Luther is bought and paid for by the Mitch McConnell and the GOPe. The GOPe PACs don’t give millions of dollars to candidates and expect nothing in return.
Mitch and the GOPe would prefer democrats get elected before they would a conservative candidate.
I am totally baffled as to why Trump is actively endorsing Luther Strange. Strange is in Mitch McConnell’s back pocket. Strange will will only add to the Senate GOP opposition to Trump, headed by McConnell.
Problem is, sometimes the people recoil at such naked and sleazy ambition and will vote for the good guy if there's a choice, and Alabama is lucky to have one.
where do we send money to moore?
GOPe = the best politicians money can buy.
The Big League answer for the Trump campaign right now is to increase their own fund raising efforts away from the Never Trumpers operating with GOP funds.
Actively support candidates nation-wide in strategic races to bring about a real result of change.
I continue to receive requests for contributions that will go to the GOP and away from Trump influence, but the labeling of my name in a unique way shows me the GOP got my contact info from Trump campaign.
Trump needs to pry McConnell's fingers off of funds in the swamp.

Yes we would have liked Mo Brooks to win but Roy Moore is much much better than having Mitch’s kept bitch in the senate.
We don’t need any more strange senators.
I want Judge Moore to win.
The President likes both candidates; he tweeted on election night:
Congratulation to Roy Moore and Luther Strange for being the final two and heading into a September runoff in Alabama. Exciting race!
Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 16, 2017
The general election is not until December. He needs Luther’s support in the Senate until then.
The biggest threat to Judge Moore is Mitch mobilizing Dems to vote for Strange in the upcoming runoff election — just like he did for Thad Cochran in Mississippi a few years ago
He has the perfect name for a senator right out of a great American novel. I will give him that!
Judge Roy Moore for Senate Committee

Judge Moore reminds me of Ted Cruz.
Sanctimonious...no other politician demonstrates adequate fidelity, not enough of a “True Conservative”.
A strident adherent to Conservative Orthodoxy, willing the shame anyone, anywhere for the slightest transgression.
And, of course, willing the twist the truth through characterization of events. For evidence of this, look at the alarm he sent out about how Mitch McConnell (piss be upon his name) was encouraging Democrats to vote in the GOP run off election.
As if it was encouragement of an illegal act, the breaking of every rule.
He’s the kind of Conservative I, personally, can do without.
But I don’t vote in the AL primary. And I quit contributing money to one of Moore’s opponents. I now figure it’s not my business.
But I will most certainly opine, not that anyone listens. I’m pretty sure darn near every Republican in AL has their mind made up.
“Mitch mobilizing Dems to vote for Strange in the upcoming runoff election “
The dumbasses in Alabama wrote their election laws that way, not the swamp in DC.
Allow folks in Alabama to screw themselves over if they are so insistent. I’m mean, it’s not like Democrats have been in charge of State government for the last 30 years.
Republicans wrote those election laws, or chose not to modify them.
Now, the only folks in AL I’m referring to as a dumbass are the ones who have done nothing about their screwed up election laws. Those who are actively trying to change it are obviously not dumbasses.
Those people who would warn Trump as to what Republican candidates are Rinos are now going... going... gone from the White House.
Somewhat aggressive evaluation.
Meanwhile,
ROLL TIDE!!!!!
WAR EAGLE!!
Best football in USA.
Given that the majority of GOP Senators seem to have NO TRADITIONAL MORAL STANDARDS.....Judge Moore looks to offer some balance to offset the Bohemian Grove clique.
Palin and Trip Pittman have endorsed Judge Moore. More of us are tweeting President Trump he endorsed mitch’s stooge.
Moore would have walked away with the Primary if not for that third idiot sucking off just enough votes to make it a run off. Last poll was 50% FOR MOORE.
