Earlier remote report from KHOU showed several high-wheeled military trucks in a small convoy passing the reporter who was under shelter at a gas station.
KHOU reporter talking to stranded drivers — all were on their way home after the fight.
Those are incredible pictures.
Has Harvey moved at all in past 24 hours ? Looks like just slight jogs. So we are at the 24 hour no significant movement mark now ?
Harris Country waters now exceed Allisons.....
Alert!.....Roads in Houston are rivers....every freeway is closed....people up on roofs and stuck on freeways...traffic can’t move for the water...the ferocity of this storm is preventing rescues though national guard etc. are there....
Harvey is stationary again. It was drifting at 2mph for a few hours earlier.
WaPo has some interesting pix. And that's what they're reporting. Harvey Stationary So all that trapped water is going to be coming straight down.
Side street...
Take an axe...
Right.
And pray to God that the structure of your roof is wimpy as Hell.
In rising water, you could EASILY die before you could hack your way out through 3/4” plywood and a layer of composition tile roofing with a hand axe. Ya might could make a hold big enough to breathe through, but big enough to crawl out through?? I’m not givin’ good odds on that proposition.
Pearland, Texas, received 9.92 inches in just 90 minutes late Saturday night
Thousands of houses now taking on water....
That cannot happen. Say it ain’t so Joe. A 5 day total stall. More than a foot of rain each day ?
The problem with that was that all sorts of critters wanted to share the roof with them -- such as snakes...
Think it is saver on roof. Winds are tropical now. And you are wet either way.
